Highlight of this clip: ACS-64 642 on train 174. Also seen is a Keystone train, Catenary Car 10005 and Corridor Clipper 10002 on train 125, northbound Silver Meteor train 98 (very late), and a MPI GP15D lite move. Enjoy =)

I got a question, hope you can answer, does the train runs during a snow storm or during heavy snow storm??
@FanRailer8 жыл бұрын
The trains run so long as weather conditions permit. If it gets bad enough, service will get cancelled.
@OtzKrank8 жыл бұрын
+Fan Railer aaahh . ok , thank you so much, that was a quick response. I'm planning on riding that train this end of the year!!! hopefully it will be good weather conditions!!
@chris.smitty338 жыл бұрын
+M. GilHer the only way they would get cancelled if it was some hurricane with really strong winds. Snow storms they still run. No big deal to them

What is a catenary car?
@southeasternpennsylvaniara15885 жыл бұрын
Antonio Jones I think it’s just like the car that has cameras that look at the rails except this car looks at the catenary to see if their are issues.

I suppose overhead-electrical rail lines are for close-to-town passenger traffic mostly, running fairly near the power generators and operating free from diesel smoke
@kevinhoward95936 жыл бұрын
The overhead wires weren't installed by Amtrak. The electrification of the line from NY to Washington was done by the PRR in the mid 1930s. At the time Diesel powered engines were fairly new and it was costly to use steam power, so the PRR decided to put in electrified service. Electric trains can pull longer trains and start and stop a lot quicker. There is no way a diesel train could go 150mph.

There is rumors of Amtrak painting there whole stock into Phase III is this true?
@FanRailer9 жыл бұрын
Erik Gustafson as of now, those rumors are unsubstantiated. Only the new Viewliner II cars will receive the updated phase III scheme.
@amtrakamerica19139 жыл бұрын
You would think it would make sense to put them in Phase IVb

I wonder why 602 was being towed by 604....engine move maybe?
@FanRailer9 жыл бұрын
McTrainGuy Nah. The pair originally departed DC as a double header (both units operational). 602 apparently experienced some problems along the way, so it was taken offline.

It's so sad to see so few riders on this great corridor. Amtrak needs to get flash mobbed with riders and rake in tons of $$$.
@kevinhoward95936 жыл бұрын
What are you talking about? 75% of Amtrak's annual revenue/ridership comes from the NEC. 3 of Amtrak's busiest Stations are on the corridor. #1 NYP, #2 Washington Union Station, #3 Philadelphia Greys 30th Street Station. That right there alone is almost 18 million passengers, if not more.
