Amtrak Horizon passenger cars are probably one of my favorite cars. And I’ve actually ridden in a horizon car

they're all into Amtrak today, back in the 80s and 90s when i was railfaning Amtrak i was all by myself and couldn't get any info until I was old enough to start buying Amtrak VHS videos in the mid 90s

@@pashon4percushon or even modern era stuff. Class I roadnames for the Scaletrains Tier 4 GEVOs sell out like hot cakes, and Atlas and Athearn new releases of the B32-8WH and P42DC were sold out within weeks from dealers. Cant wait what’ll be in store for Rapido’s upcoming batch of Amtrak F40s.

@@CentralJerseyRailfan Rapido's F40s are too expensive for me. I have a big fleet of Walthers, but those run iffy on a good day. I found out a few years ago that Kato's HO scale F40s run good and worth the price so i invested in some of them.

That is correct. The Horizon Cars are used in the Midwest.

Horizons do occasionally reappear on the Missouri River Runner in the post Siemens Venture car era but mostly in the form of Cafe cars. Previously they were running Amfleet 1s and 2s mixed in as most of the Horizons went to the Cascades after the Talgo sets were retired.

2:10 I'm from Kansas City and I've seen a couple of these Northeast Regional cafe cars on the end of the Missouri River Runner. I find it odd Amtrak let them wander so far from the Northeast Amfleet IIs are also intended for long-distance service east of Chicago, but these too have migrated to the Missouri River Runner, probably because the Cascades service uses more Horizon cars these days

Great video! I am also in the process of buying an HO Amtrak Passenger line. I really like the Rapido but, I will not count out the Bachmann Amfleet. Thanks for sharing.

I believe Walthers just did a run of amfleat cars I’m still waiting for walthers to re release the superliners I only have the first run of the cars which are black windows no interior

I'm looking to build my passenger fleet and would like to get some Amfleets, but it seems it doesn't matter which brand you go with, neither one rolls very well. I know Walthers has it in their instructions that you must oil the wheel bearings (even then it still doesn't seem to make a great difference from what i've seen). Have you tried to lube the axles on your Bachmans? I just picked up a kato viewliner baggage car and i'm not impressed with it's rolling ability, i think because of it's rotating bearing caps.
