Today we want to share our Amtrak BOGO roomette sale details, how to get a discount. It can be challenging to navigate the Amtrak website. You use this guide for train travel on Amtrak for all of their sleeper car trains like the Sunset Limited, Empire Builder, California Zephyr, Coast Starlight and several others. These are our Amtrak travel tips for Amtrak roomette superliner. You will enjoy your journey a bit more in a roomette using this sale.

That makes sense. The standard fare on empire builder is $1098 for two in a roomette, so saving $336. That's roughly equivalent to two coach fares. I wonder if that is about how it works normally. I thought maybe the companion savings was just the coach cost for the 2nd person but it's more than that, which makes sense with meals included. Anyway a good deal! 30% off!

Caveat: we just booked a trip on the City of New Orleans and although the train is only 10% sold for the dates we picked we were put in lower level roomettes both ways.

Restore Dining Car service on all overnight trains East of the Mississippi, hire some Chefs and Cooks that will prepare real meals for the passengers and get rid of all the micro-waved Uber Meals!

This is great the crazy part is if I wanted to book the California Zephyr I would have to travel from another state just to ride it which is going to cost a lot of money😢

The best deal that worked for me was in 2022 when you could buy points and get x percent more points for free. I bought ~$800 worth of points and got a value of $1k points. It paid for half my trip from New York to Oregon and back. That deal was not offered in 2023 😢

Thanks for the info. I don't know if you have ever addressed this, but which is the better deal; getting a rail pass and staying at a town or city in order to sight see and get some rest at a local motel or BnB versus getting a ticket for a Roomette? I know not all routes run everyday, and some only run a few days each week, so making connections might be difficult for longer trips. I know some of this depends on your perspective of whether the destination or the journey is more important to you. Also, what advice would you give to a traveler who has mobility issues (a prosthetic leg). Thanks for your videos!

i've been putting my solo trip off cause i am just so indecisive! 😢 roomettes are sooo pricy but you'll have privacy, meals and access to showers. booking a roomette is pretty much considered your "vacation". i've been considering rail pass as well... doing stops in multiple cities, booking rooms to adventure for a day and then getting back on the train! personally, i think that would make up for not having access to showers and having privacy with rail pass. i hope this helps you decide :)

What is considered a trip for this deal? Say for example I'm taking a longer trip in a roommate with a companion using the code but the trip is two trains one way is the code only good for the first train of the trip?

In general, as much as I love train travel, Amtrak screws the single traveler. It's bad survival strategy because it so totally eliminates young folk solo adventuring and they grow up thinking trains are irrelevant.
