6 "brand new, state of the art" Siemens Venture cars. Coach class. Operator - Amtrak San Joaquins. Their imminent return has finally taken place after it's failure-laden years. From door issues to pipes full of lead, to think Amtrak Midwest is having better luck with their own.
Street scene, late afternoon. November 28, 2023. Jack London Square/Oakland, California, USA. Our special deadheads from Amtrak's Oakland yard and streetruns down to Amtrak's Jack London Square station. Later to depart and operate as AMTK862 (OKJ-BFD) to Bakersfield. The crew and other employees onboard, to whom their contentment came with difficulty as they were presented with small issues from the new cars, NPCU 90218 (CDTX90218) being later deemed "inoperable", the crew decides on rolling the train back into Amtrak's Oakland yard. NPCU 90218 slowly leads the train down Embarcadero west with Siemens Charger SC44 2102 (CDTX2102).
After a few hours in the yard, P42 25 (AMTK25) was placed in front of NPCU 90218 for the train to later depart as AMTK782 to Bakersfield for one of their Siemens Venture car's certification run.
