Amtrak Talgo 6 Funeral Train - Tacoma, WA

Amtrak had retired their 1998-built Talgo series 6 train-sets from service back in the summer of 2020, and now all that's left for them is to move the final 2 remaining out of Seattle. Their assumed fate is storage/scrap near Los Angeles, CA and assumed to never run again.
It's too bad these nice old coaches are finally going to be a sight of the past. I had such great memories of seeing, photographing and taking the Cascades train with these for a long time!

I got one quick shot between the Ruston and Harbor control points in the outer reaches of Tacoma, WA this morning. Filmed it on my camcorder and took pictures using my Canon DSLR.

If I had expendable income, I would have wanted to save at least one Talgo Series VI train set, then converted it for longer distance travel, for instance, sleeping accommodations. I also would have had the seats which were determined to not protect the passengers adequately with seats that provided the protection necessary. My reason for this is because I find the passive tilting Talgo Pendular series quite fascinating.

Those two sets should be at the B&O railroad museum and the California state railroad museum respectively

I just found that video of “Raising a Railfan” Railfanning is a journey through a lifestyle where magnificent giant machinery lumber down the rails. We are many, we are Railfans. I rode the last southbound revenue run from Portland to Salem. The interior was in bad shape at that point.

We will all miss them. Sad how I only rode the cascades once in the talgo 6 Ranier set. Oh well.

It was great while they lasted. If it wasn’t for the derailment they could have been with us longer.
