I've been out of the game for a while as you can probably tell from my last uploaded date. But a couple quick things off the top of my head: -Don't let anybody tell you that any particular video editing software is better or worse than another. They all have their pros and cons - use whatever you're most comfortable with. (except windows movie maker. does that even still exist?? either way it sucks, don't use it) -Use the highest quality rip of a show you can get your hands on. No subtitles or watermarks. -KZfaq isn't a meritocracy. Make videos for yourself, let popularity be a happy side-effect if you achieve it. The video I spent the most time on and I'm most proud of - Never Feel Happy - has 15k views. My most popular video by a large margin (Centuries), took me a couple hours to make, and was mostly just dumb luck and good timing. -It's easiest to make AMVs out of stuff you've seen recently; the fresher it is in your mind the easier it'll be to remember/find scenes for the video. -You're more likely to get copyright strikes/videos taken down if you use really recent shows and music. Also Studio Ghibli stuff specifically gets flagged often. -This is more personal preference but please God pick a song that actually fits the tone/story of the show. I've seen so many AMVs where the editing is good and the video/audio quality is crisp, but they use some EDM song that feels totally disconnected from the show. It doesn't matter how well made the video is if it doesn't make me feel anything. The best AMVs are the ones where the music, animation, and editing all come together for one cohesive idea. Those are just some random ones off the top of my head... if I was pressed I could probably list a hundred more tips. But I hope it helps at least a little bit.
