I'm a 44 year old guy who has played guitar for 30 years in bands from punk to metal to country and folk - let's say I have an eclectic taste in music. And out of every record I've ever listened to in my entire life, Amy Grant's Heart in Motion has more songs that make me cry like a baby every time. This is one of them.

I feel your words man!!! I replayed those three last songs of that album so many times and until these days, still make me cry too. This is one of those songs.

Have always loved this song since Heart in Motion first came out. Now that I’m older the meaning is more poignant and beautiful than ever.❤️

This song has always tugged at my heart strings, always made me cry, for some reason. A few years ago, my middle school crush passed away in a horrible car crash, and I played this song over and over again while crying my eyes out and contemplating his death and life itself. That was a very dark time..

I just love the way you sing I always love you and I always do, you always be my greatest love my Amy ground I love you,❤
It's lyrically the best song on Heart in Motion (1991), and also the one song that comes across as too melancholic and reflective for that album. Since both her son and her oldest daughter had been born by the time that album came out (in 1987 and 1989, respectively) and only her son's birth is mentioned in the song, I suspect this song was written either during the Lead Me On (1988) sessions or reasonably shortly thereafter. Lyrically and musically, this song would have fit extremely well on Lead Me On.
