I like Carole King and her album Tapestry is a work of art, but this version of Too Late is just excellent.

Another beautiful rendition of this song. Amy gave this more sugar. Gloria Estafan gave it spice. Of course, Carole gave her original recipe.

Absolutely beautiful

When taken into context Amy is going through at the time, this makes the song very prophetic, haunting and very very personal at the same time. The strings made it sound so sinister especially during the soprano sax solo implies something IS going on.

@@bpabustan thanks for the info, I have always liked this version of Amy's. Her warm and convincing vocals all the more adds emotion to the song.

Arguably the BEST CUT on Tapestry Revisited! Amy Grant's interpretation of this Carole King classic is scary good; makes you wonder if the lyrics were hitting close to home for Amy with respect to her marriage to Gary Chapman, that was falling apart about then...

It's the most personal cover of this song. So to me if not for Carole King's original, nothing else can top this.

The arrangement of the song is very close to the original Carole King recording, right down to the guitar and soprano sax solo. Gerry McPherson nailed Daniel Kortchmar solo also to the dude who copied Curtis Amy's soprano sax solo note for note. Lovely! The Nashville String Machine took this song to a VERY HAUNTING dimension. Looking at it now, Amy meant every word of the song. Her marriage to Gary Chapman was very much in trouble then.

There is a video with Amy in the recording studio singing this song for the Tapestry Revisited. The video was done professionally. SEEING Amy singing this song.....I’m not sure how to describe it. All of the artists were featured doing their recordings. I would to be able to find this. I was hoping KZfaq would have it.

Watch Amy Grant in concert on the Lead Me On tour of the late 1980s. A broken woman trying to keep smiling through the pain of a terrible marriage. By this point, she has realized that she needs to do life on her own, and that she can. Her musical sensitivity and her polished performances of the mid-1990s are among the best of her career.

what's better about it? neither of these are considered great vocalists, you're going to compare Amy Grant's vocality to Gloria Estefan's? child bye

@@jak30341 I think Amy's version has a stronger arrangement and better production. I wasn't focusing much on the vocals.
