Its not just men that can be abusive so can women, but if a woman hits a man its either laughed at or ignored. A man should never attack a woman and a woman should never attack a man, it's wrong.

So many years of abuse from a narsacist manipulator. I took my two daughters and left. Drove 12 hrs. To another state,thats the best thing I ever did. The small things you leave behind,is just stuff. Starting over is well worth it. I say this with all my heart,to the men and women that live through this kind of abuse

Ive been away from my monster for just over 5 years now. I finally have my power back. The leftovers from the assault that almost ended me, are balance and memory issues. I beat Vertigo, though. He got one year on ankle bracelet and got to keep his job. I am aware that he could appear at anytime, but I'll be ready for him. Be strong sisters. If we stand together, we can heal and grow ✨ 🙏 💖❤

Be aware of the red flags very early on. Most of us grew up in very unstable homes, and environments where we were not validated or encouraged. So, this behavior is "normal" and loving. The narcissist love bombs us and seems like a wonderful person at first. The red flags are, the first time he/she insults you or belittles you; that's the deal breaker. I never saw it coming, I got ensnared. Once I understood what I was dealing with, I divorced him! Yes, at the age of 69, I divorced that monster! It's never too late! Get out, stay out! I still have panic attacks and PTSD and I'm free! These short movies are really very good! Thank you for bringing awareness about domestic violence!

I weep for abuse victims who have not broken free. It took me 14 long years to finally leave after many attempts. After years of therapy, I see with much clearer eyes and will never allow anyone to abuse me again.

I stayed 18 long yrs, everyday of those scared to death when the next big beating will be. I thought when I was pregnant it would no be as bad, but he actually aimed for the baby within me. He threw me to the ground and tried to kick my 8 month pregnant stomach, I wrapped my arms around my knees to protect my unborn son. My neighbor called my aunt (our renter) to ask if she should call the police, she told her no. I finally saved enough money to pay cash for my divorce. Worked 4.5 yrs as an domestic violence advocate. The reason women don't leave is: you must find them a job, daycare, home for her children, food etc, its easy to say " she stays cause she must like it" which my dad would say.

After 5 years , by the Grace of God, I got Lucky & He died...It was getting worse by the minute. I would have have died if he didn't...all the years I tried to leave but couldn't...he always found me.

Once you have witnessed violence against women you are never a child again - my sister died aged 52 the first victim of violence I ever saw. Rest in peace Hetty.

I couldn't watch this. My ex-husband was very narcissistic, verbally abusive even in front of our children. He always had to be right, had to win. I had always told him if he ever hit me I would have him arrested. I want people to know rape happens in marriage too. Eventually I did get hit, in the face in front of my two older children. And I had his ass arrested. A lot of good that did, the judge sent us to counseling for the sake of the children. As far as I was concerned, I was done. The divorce was bad, financially devastating for me. He paid child support only because the district judge had his wages garnished. That was back in 1996. Here it is 2021 and I'm still single. It can lonely sure but I'm contented and I will fight for peace.

This counselor is just as disturbing as the husband. He is throwing out alot of red flags himself.

All my bruises were on the inside. Gradually grabbing, pushing, throwing stuff. Empty promises to change. After 11years i fled from Florida to Virginia where family lived. He go deep deliverance and inner healing from horrid childhood and adulthood. He changed! Very very rare

Even if you do leave, having to share custody with a monster is the worst feeling. I left over a year ago, but soon we will have to go to court for custody and I have the terrifying reality that he may well get unsupervised contact with our children. How do mothers leave innocent children alone with an abuser? The system is so flawed. There is still the belief that even if a man is abusive, he can still be a good father and his parental rights are more important than the children’s rights.

This sends the wrong message. She jumped from one man to another, her therapist at that - who’s shown he too has a temper! (in part one when he fires his receptionist, quite unfairly I may add) Wtf? She needs to get on her OWN two feet.. I repeat, WTF?

I'm surprised her ex-husband was so accepting of her leaving him, she didn't even have to hide from him very long. He sees the kids too, wow. Many abusive spouses don't 'let go' as easily. She was lucky.

From my experience. I was broken when I met my abuser. I was neglected and abandoned by my parents and my grandmother mistreated me. The perfect setup for a narcissist. We split over 10 years ago and I’m still hurt but continuously healing. I was working him for 13 years. My 20’s were taken from me.

As a survivor of not only sex trafficking by my own mother and with the help of extended family throughout the southern states, with my two younger brothers as well where we would find ourselves in the ghetto's of Atlanta, GA(me age 4, brothers 3,2) thank god this man was amazing and protected us and did not harm us for whatever reason! I can remember he bought us a set of matching white German shepherds, but the main abuse of SA, DV and verbal were all directed onto me up to 6th grade. We moved around all over and were left with family or strange men or I was. The breaking point was when I was 11 my mother hit me for breaking up a fight between my brothers and I punched her back and told her if she ever touched me again that would be it for her. She admitted to abusing me, selling me all because she wished I had died instead of the son she lost before me. I have CPTSD and PTSD from childhood trauma but also being in four armed robberies with the latest being in September 2020...For the record I tried to get her chance after chance so my kids could have a grandmother even though I hated her but she picked one of my four and blatantly favored him and I put a stop to that immediately.' Also I have severe anger issues I am well aware of and I have blocked out most of my childhood before 6th grade and scents, music, sounds, lights, etc will trigger emotions. I know a main trigger is someone touching me especially if we are in a heated discussion not even in a fighting way and I know I see red literally. Why this is I have no idea but it has happened three times and I literally loose my sight, sound, hearing, and all I see is red and I feel rage. I don't even remember doing anything until the event is over and people have intervened. I have no memory from the time I'm touched until I'm removed. It's like a blank slate. Yes I know my trigger and I do tell my friends not to touch me without asking me same with doctors, etc. If I feel triggered I remove myself asap I'm also in therapy and I know what to avoid for the most part but when you compartmentalize you can't always guarantee you know all your triggers... It breaks my heart to see women in this situation as I was in it as a child and I can still be put back there without the physical abuse but by certain actions and words of others. I always tell everyone never ever lay a hand on me or it will be the last thing you do. Mine is more of a mental prison but it can then trigger a physical reaction. I also from a young age was able to tell men that were not good people like I knew my real dad was a pedo(I'm not sure if he started hurting me and that caused their divorce or what as they both are liars and he was a alcoholic) and I can still tell ones that like the kiddies...women as well.

Warning, spoilers ahead! These two short films are well done and obviously well intentioned. They are both problematic. The martial situation is clearly abusive and the film does a good job portraying how hard it can be to leave an abusive relationship and how help from friends and professionals is sometimes not welcome. The therapist displays several red flags for future abuse. He blocks access to a door to prevent the client from leaving his office, he grabs her arm, he crosses ethical lines, and he puts her in danger by seeing her outside his office and without her prior consent. He’s also angry and verbally aggressive with the woman answering phones. This may be an attempt to show that the counselor is passionate about protecting women and he is stymied by uncaring coworkers. This is evident when, in part one, the woman answering the phones is seen as bored and indifferent. It contrasts with a later scene, in part two, of the wife on the phone. She is friendly, enthusiastic, and helpful. The pregnancy test in the ending scene does not bode well. It was especially disturbing when the therapist caressed a photo of the wife’s bruised face. His tactics are not the way to help people experiencing domestic abuse. He doesn’t really listen or offer steps or a real plan. The film does show how abuse in the home harms children. How about a film where a mother puts up with abuse for years because of her children. Then her daughter comes home from a date with a cut lip or bruises on her arm. The daughter dismisses it because she learned that’s acceptable in a relationship. Closing scene pans out to a car in front of the house. Inside the car the same woman’s son is telling his girlfriend “You would if you really loved me.” Yes, it’s hard to leave. Get out anyway. Document the abuse, have a backup plan, leave a getaway kit with a trusted friend. Take time to heal. Watch out for people who invalidate your experience.

On my own ! That's profound. Exactly how I have been in my life. But no-one, NO-ONE can abuse a loner.

Like a mule I stuck to my marriage vow until coming home from work to find huge blood blisters on my 5 year old's inner thighs. After being locked in the bathroom for 3 days to stop us leaving him, we managed to escape and flee to a refuge. Our new life is Rural. Horses, dogs, cats, chickens. Very grateful for the peacefulness.

People who loved had children in lockdown. The people who weren't really in love they became divorced or beaten.

My ex husband to be stopped going for my face after I told him my workplace had obviously started to clock my black eyes and slip lips and were noting it down as they have a duty of care for me. The bastard them stopped goin for my face and went for my body and back of my head. Six years after fleeing him I have a permanent slit on my upper lip which is quite painful in winter, doctor told me I’ve took that many slit lips my lip won’t fuse back together.

Any counsellor who would disclose his past to a woman living in a violent home should be struck off, because that's a clear breach of professional ethics. In fact, it's inappropriate to disclose his personal life in any way to someone with whom he's in a counselling relationship. If I thought I had sent a woman to see a counsellor who behaved this way, I'd feel ashamed and angry. His behaviour is also very controlling - it's just that in your films, he's being a nice guy.

This is a lesson movie. I have left a buses boyfriend, never hit me around my kids, but when they went to bed I knew it was my time, I got sick and tried and I shaping a stew drive, and got to my door he opened it try to hit me and that's when I decided to fight back

My sister didn't stand a chance,,,The Authirities found her decapitated in the back seat of her car,,,She was disemboweled 😢 Our Family will live with that for the rest of our lives!!!!💔

It's so sad.. sometimes too much trauma can end to madness isn't it better to leave an abuse husband and save your children of lifetime traumas than to stay with an abused husband all in the name of not wanting to hurt your children. I am a survivor of domestic abuse myself but it wasn't my Son's Dad, he's actually a good man that still helps me to this day. My Son did see one of my abusers hit me, but he saw me fight back and beat the living hell out of him then call the law on him. Both my Son and I played it smart and let him leave marks on us, my Son was like 12. I beat my my ex unconscious and tied him up with a jump rope to the railing on the front porch, the police came and got him and later called twice once to say he was peeing blood, the 2nd time he was misbehaving so I told them if I could beat his ass so they to get busy lol 😂

If it doesnt give you that sense of security and that immense happiness being with that one person, its not meant to be! Leave!

Story seems incomplete. Her husband is such a nasty abuser that usually one'd expect him to become a stalker and her killer. Wish it is so easy for these victims to walk out like this film shows to bear no horrible aftermaths.

If you tell your partner to stop a certain thing that is upsetting for you and they do not stop, you have a problem. Anyone that truly loves you would stop a minor things like smoking in the house, flushing the toilet, not making fun of you in public, etc. If they will not change more minor issues, then what happens if it is verbal or physical abuse? The first time any controlling behavior begins or actual abuse of any kind, pack up and leave. If you have said, don't swear at me three times and he doesnt stop, he is not going to stop. You cant say, dont ever hitme again, he is going to hit you again. Dont stay, make a leaving plan and leave even if it means going to a shelter. Never leave when he's home like in dumb movies, no way. Get out.

There's one little detail people need to truly understand: you can not help someone who doesn't want to be helped.she just kept going to therapy because she started to like the guy. I know people will go wild in the reply section but I believe these women don't have a backbone. This is a simple matter: your significant other starts disrespecting you, you call him out and put boundaries. He crossess them you walk away. Violence needs to start somewhere and these women accepted disrespect until it turned into violence. I honestly have no sympathy for these women
