my family and i went on a staycation to see how i would go away from home and we are spending this week in melbourne to get away from doctors, hospital and appointments. its been such a good idea to go away

Tom cracks me up every video lol his humor is seriously a must when living with life long illnesses. Does he have a brother? Lol I just love you two! Tom is the most supportive boyfriend I have ever met! I was married and as soon as my health took a turn for the worse and I became disabled he decided that he wanted no part of me. We have two daughters so he is a great dad but obviously not husband. You have been Blessed with finding Tom.❤🙏🏼

When I went on my first cruise 12 mths ago (highly recommended for those of us with disabilities, chronic illness!!!), I was told by someone that because I wasn’t working “full time” I didn’t deserve a holiday/break/staycation! These sort of people don’t realise being chronically ill/disabled is a FULL TIME job keeping on top of it all! Sometimes u need a break away, change of scenery-even tho we all know, we can’t escape all the things of being disabled/chronically unwell-it can help to revitalise-give us the boost needed to keep on keeping on! I’m so glad u guys were able to make it work-with all the things u need to think of, & got the break away that u both completely deserve!! Thankyou for taking us along with u guys! I hope you had the BEST time!😜

Watching your videos has like given me the guts to make appointments with doc an specialist to try an figure out what's going on with me ive just been trying to ignore it but finally got the guts to figure out what's going on so far I been to cardiologist an got a heart monitor put on my chest an stomach area that i have to wear for few days an its so annoying having all these wires an it just makes me think its nothing compared to all the stuff you have which is always connected to you idk how you do it but I am happy you share your life with people cuz it deff help me get up the guts to finally get help thanks

Hi Amy, I started watching you because I as well have chronic illnesses like lupus, ciliac disease, sjorgrens, just a lot of things going on. I try to sew when I can as it keeps my mind busy. I make custom purses, wallets and bags. I would love to customize a bag for your needs. I would design Pockets, zipper pockets any size, back pack, crossbody or over the shoulder that you would design yourself I mainly just do this because I love to see and do things for others. Hello there! I'm a new subscriber and I have a suggestion ☺️ Don't know if you have heard about these already but I'm a nurse in the US and at hospitals that I've worked at we have these things call curos caps. They basically sit on the end of your port and acts as a sort of "port protector" so that the port to your Hickman isn't exposed to air at all times. They only have to be changed about once a day or after each use of the port and they come in bundles. I'm sure you take perfect care of it but I saw that you're OCD so it's just added protection 🤗 if you've already heard of this sorry for repeating. Love your vids btw ❤️

Tom is a one person synchronized swim team. He should win the gold for effort. Also, I understand eating something that I know will make me sick later. I have this issue, that as far as I can tell is a form of cyclic vomiting syndrome where I get episodes of vomiting no matter what I eat or drink and it can happen up to about 8 hrs after I’ve consumed it. When I’m in one of those cycles things with more oil, fat, butter, water, or condiments in particular all make me feel nauseous and sick. It sucks because I never know when I’m gonna get it again or when it might go away.

I love watching your videos, Amy! I was just diagnosed with EDS over a month ago, though have had GP, arrhythmias, and multiple associated conditions for many years. You are so inspirational, and I love that you don’t let EDS stop you from living life. So many people become consumed by their illness; it’s hard not to let it consume you when it affects nearly every part of your body. But over the years I’ve learned that life is too short, and I refuse to let EDS steal my joy!

I got to conventions a few times a year. It's a huge change of pace from home but I love it. It can take months to recover from them fully but I love it. I work at the two conventions. With my husband by my side. My bosses and the medical team are well aware of my issues. So I do get told on occasion "youre done go rest". I'm always worried of getting sick and last convention it hit hard. So extra planning has to go into the events, aka how the fudge do I get home safely. One of them I have family nearby. The other I'm skuppered (will need to figure it out).

I’m the same way with my gastroparesis sometimes. Sometimes I decide even though I know I’m going to regret it afterwards I’ll eat something because I get in moods of “screw it I want it.” Especially going out to eat. I always end up sick because I eat stuff I shouldn’t and bigger portions than I should

I found bringing some large garbage bags from home is always useful when you do a staycation. Those hotel garbages are tiny!

There are electric versions of the same cooler you have! They’re basically like a travel mini freezer, I bet there are different versions for different needs or temperatures etc.

Hi amy I watch u bc I also have a chronic illness called cromo which makes my body fight my bones and make Tumors all over my body I’m going through treatment right now which is used for cancer but doesn’t have the chemo drug in you have inspired me even thou we have 2 different illness I’m 13 and have been misdiagnosed with cancer and still have a high chance of getting bone cancer which is a high chance I will die thank you for what you do to inspire people everyday love u to bits ❤️❤️❤️

We were doing a about eds in science today

It took a lot of money to get my bags accepted for flight to southampton via 3 transpos then almost missed it as they left my chair for a lady with a minor heart issue that required medics to board and of course my partner is stuck on this flight with me and we asked the pilot if he could get someone from the central terminal to help us instead he thankfully made a call and they got my chair to the back ramp the seat they use down the isles is super weird. I had to carry on my feed and saline for 10 days 30 boxes 20 bags it was a paperwork nightmare but I was prepared. I was coming from the US west coast first new york then we stopped in europe and finally london train to southampton it was so heavy I had to get help from people as I also of course was pumping both at the time so that's a seperate backpack plus my oxygen it was insane but I got one of the portable generators so I fit it all in my one backpack. people do not realize the amount we must travel with just to stay healthy I have like 20 meds to keep track of 4 times a day I needed to make and attach a drainage bag from the feed bags so I could be mobile let alone how I felt after meaning three plane transfers and with pots and various other things, A/C is a must as well as a fridge was super annoying to find both in hotel, thankfully I had another friend willing to go so it was 3 paying and I could afford such a place. I miss it over there I could get places to spite the chair trains had been awesome to me and do it mostly myself after those I think total was 22 hours travel time with layovers, it was a long day I actually met someone I know from east coast over here while I was over there, waiting we met in the chair park area of the airport she was in her purple chair I got green as they didn't have the purple that I wanted so I commented on the lovely color and then we both knew we were friends on fb through eds it's a small community to spite what most people say about it being a certain level of common.
