The funny thing is, the translation of "confident" in this context, is pretty similar, "confiante", but he was nervous probably.

Yeah but the pronunciation is very different, and the word "confidente" actually exists in portuguese also, and it has nothing to do with confident, so yeah, not a smart move to assume semantics by similarity of letters.
