You just have to look at the court to see one of the causes of problems in Philippine basketball. In other home courts, ang naka print sa basketball court "Belgrade," "Istanbul," "Athens," etc. Pero sa Gilas game, "SM MOA Arena" instead of Manila. Branding comes first before the city name because it's always money talks. The success of our basketball program is always hinged upon who sponsors it. I don't think there's another basketball program in the world that has the same blueprint as the Philippines'. Palagi tayong kakaiba for the wrong reasons.

I believe SBP should be the one who takes accountability. Team Management. A good program needs a mainstay coach be it Chot Reyes or Tab or Nenad. My point here is a coach has its own system that needs to be ingrained, activated and practiced. Consistency, Stability is really essential. We cannot keep changing coaches and players. Its not sustainable and just dumb. You don’t expect a new system to be adopted in few practices. Time together playing a good system will bring success. It is a team sport after all. Brotherhood, familiarity must be present. To be able to perform in a high level like the World Cup, Gilas should have atleast have 8 weeks of practice as a team playing tune up games with high quality opponents. Time together will be critical.

Hiling ko talaga para sa PBA at sa SBP na ayusin nila ang mga sarili muna at ang programa mismo. Tama kayo, parang ngang stuck sa loop ang basketball program natin dito. Napapaisip ako, hindi ba napapansin ng mga officials ng SBP at PBA ito? Tila wala silang mga motibasyon para baguhin ang takbo ng programa. I think calling JC a band aid solution seems right at first because Chot and management don't quite know what they're doing. But JC has also been with the program for a while, not just for this round. In other words, he wasn't included just because the team was struggling. His buy-in was already there for quite some time. So not so much a "band aid" as it is a "shot in the arm." Even with a great coach (like Tab) we'd still need all the firepower we can get against the powerhouse teams, so JC's inclusion makes sense in any context. What we really need is 6 months of continuous prep with the same group of players, composed of players that can really shoot, to work towards limiting our miscues on the court. The 2 biggest issues with our Gilas teams of the past are outside shooting and turnovers. If SBP can pay for Clarkson, they should be willing in varying degrees of compensation, to do the same for the rest of the players so that they will stay consistently and everyday with the program. After all, these players also still need to make an ample living while pursuing the national objective.

The problem is SBP relying mostly on PBA, whereas PBA should act as stakeholder only. The PBA should embrace FIBA basketball culture not the NBA culture, development not entertanment. Pba should should adapt FIBA rules, PBA should hire foriegn coaches, PBA should allow college imports, atleast 2, Naturalize players, PBA should allow hire imports no height limits and according to needed position. Euroleague and australian NBL are all FIBa snactioned league, and the way they play is international standard, thats why all players and coaches are familar with FIBA tournaments, day in day out they can compete on the highest level, on the other hand, PBA is a great league but the brand of play and coaching is not FIBA standard, thats is why GIlas we cannot compete in the highest level.

It's a blessing-in-disguise imho. JC called the booing of coach Chot "bullshit". He was clearly appalled of the Filipino spectators' treatment of the coach especially at a time when the country was hosting an international game. He didn't want that to happen no matter what the Filipino people think he had done wrong because he said he is 'one of us'. It is a bad gesture and a negative one for the culture. JC had just given the fans a wake up call that such an attitude is not gonna gain respect in the sporting world. Of Course Chot was blamed for the dismal performance of the Gilas. But Chot is just a part of a bigger problem. Change has to be made because the whole country has lost its patience to a losing team.

Speaking of direction pwede Cguro after 2023 or even now current is to start with 1. Re-gain WHAT IS AND WILL BE RIGHTFULLY SO, The SEA games crown from the Indos. 2. Re-enter the top 5 Asian countries (I consider Gilas as a top 5 to top 3, heck twice tayo nagsilver during the 2012-2016 timeframe )in FIBA asia, I'd say if walang mga NZs and Aussies, we would still be top 5 heck even top 3, Pero parang nagslide down tayo near the 10th or at least 8th dahil nagka Aussies and Nz, along with still powerful teams like Iran, China, Korea, alongside the up and coming Japan team, A progressively improving Indonesia and a re-emergence of Team Lebanon, heck parang 9th nlng rin tayo just slightly above perhaps Chinese Taipei or maybe even 10th tas Jordan yun 9th best Asian team. Dati pag nakikita match-up Taipei, Indo, even Japan easy chicken on paper, not to take away from those teams Pero kahit sila plng kalaban kakabahan kana ngayon eh . 3. Top 15 sa mundo nuff said.

Ang sarap kc nung putahe na niluto ni Chef Tab saktong saktong sa panlasa ng mga pinoy. Tamang-tama yun pagkakaluto at kumpletos rekados hindi pa ganun kamahal. Etong si Chef Chot naman ilan beses na nagluluto pero ewan ko ba pinoy naman sya pero di makuha-kuha ang panlasa ng pinoy. I am beginning to think that there is really no program. SBP is just relying on corporates to lend players. To me its not a program. A program, in my view, should be continuous and have mainstays and focuses on development.

And na tanong nyo na ba mga players kung gusto ba nila si Chot or iba? Tab is out na kaya ang other option na lang is to hire a new foreign coach or pili sa mga local coaches like Tim Cone. Bringing clarkson is not something you can call one step closer for the thing that being call we are ready for 2023. Rather it is something to covered their mess, issues and failures. I've always a gilas fan since I was kid, those days from cris tiu, marcio lasitter, cris lutz and considering those players were not even pba players before. They were those aspiring young kids who still made great finishes at international tournaments. But now I ask nothing but this organization wishing to collapse one day just to realize how shameful they are.

Gilas is just a marketing guise for mvp camp. The players on the team is just built for maketing purposes and hope to win games. The spot that were given to the ravena brothers was a clear indication, they were there just to warm up the seats because they are a liability on the court on both sides. All they did most of the time was to give high fives, fist bump and hype up the team and the crowd. Their spot could been given to two more talented players that can be well utilize but instead it was given to them just to burn a hole on the bench.

Kung maikli ang kumot yun na lang palagi, mamaluktot ka, kailangan mo nang bagong kumot nang hindi ka mamaluktot at lamigin, magtahi ka nang mga tela para humaba yung kumot mo, yung maliit pahabain at palawakin, hindi yung itatapon mo, or kung itatapon mo, much better ba yun sa tingin natin na choice, kaso Gilas is cramming, the program is stopped parang magrereview ka nang test kung kailan yung exam tapos kung ano yung nabasa mo yun nalang sasagot, kung bagsak ka yun na yun, siguro yun yung mentality nang namumuno satin. You know how deflating it is to have your own coach booed during a national game? Say what you will about the system and the preparation, but when the players need to perform at their absolute highest mental and physical basketball peak for 40 minutes, having the crowd BOO in game instead of support is just straight up disrespectful.

Our basketball program right now is a dumpster fire, which is an insult to actual dumpster fire, mixed with never ending learning process. It's like someone took the worst parts of the Knicks and the Sixers, mixed it together, multiplied it with cancer and thought it was a good idea. Watching JC play in front of the home crowd was fun though, not gonna lie.
