From what I've red, those tips actually enhance the mids at the expense of bass and treble, so maybe trying some other tips can make them a bit more balanced and enhance those regions.

Yes. I removed the spring tips from my Kato where they don’t fit my ears and put them on the Quarks where they do. I went with foam tips and the brass filter tubes on the Kato. I use the Quarks solely with my Apple dongle for short walks etc when I can’t be bothered with carrying more kit. The Quark microphone is insanely good too. Probably the best I’ve heard since the electret condenser days.

they are my current sleeping iem because of their size. it's so small that it's non fatiguing even when i've been laying on my side. one negative i do have to point out is that my cable on them seems to be loose (not sure if that was its intended design) but now it can "freely" rotate. but hey, at $12, i'm very happy with the purchase.

I'll be interested in your Chu review also. I think that for the price, they are probably all the IEM most people would want or need, and I'm very happy with mine. That said, my take is that because of their internal nature, IEM's are so very individual, if only for their form-factor. So many variables such as ear anatomy, how they are worn, etc ultimately mean that what I hear from a specific pair may be very different to what you hear from the same pair, so I think that in many cases, you just need to get what works for you personally. We already know that these variables exist in speakers also for example, depending on your room furnishings etc. but I think with IEM's it's even more extremely individual.

@@user-ei9cj8nb1k I have never tried the SSR, they do seem small and flat, ideal for side sleeping. I have fallen asleep in bed with the Quarks on and they are comfortable. The same with the Chu but I prefer the Quarks a little more if I'm lying on my side. I don't know where you are but for a little bit extra you could also go for the Moondrop Stardust. It has the same mold as the SSR but supposedly it's tuned better and it has the same paint design as the Starfield.

I love the micro design! For me comfort and build quality is the most important thing when it comes to iems and sound quality is right after this. I feel that €20-30 is the most popular price range for most people though. $10 sounds awesome but I would rather spend a couple of bucks more to get something with similar quality to Tin T2 🤔
@alejandroelcid
@alejandroelcid 2 жыл бұрын
They do feel much more higher quality in person, both the cable and the tuning. I do get what you are saying about spending a little bit more but for the price you are still not spending that much money for a decently tuned iem that is still a good option as an everyday carry rather than going out with more expensive iems. However, I will add that I prefer the Chu a little bit more; side note, both are great to sleep with them on.

It might be because of the size and weight but the Quarks are surprisingly durable. Of course, you do want to keep them in their included bag when not in use. They also fit anywhere so unless you purposefully place them under a heavy objects they'll be fine in any bag or pocket. I will say that it's hard to say which is better, the Quarks or the Chu, because they are good at different things but you won't regret buying either of them as they do sound good for the price. You could even get them both, the Chu is basically buying Springfits with an included well tuned iem. It's as budget as it gets and beats anything you can get at any store for the same price range, sub $30. At least in my amateur-ish opinion.

It’s great at reproducing normal speaking voices without sibilance and that’s most of what I listen to while working -news, podcasts, audiobooks, etc. The microphone also has full controller features and feels made of metal. Few months into using them, they indeed sound good, but the cable really just sucks. Wires are starting to get exposed in the splitter, and they just retain the coiling/winding (of when I store them in a pouch) for days. The shell is decently durable, though. I've accidentally slept on them already multiple times where they end up under my back, and they haven't been crushed yet, even with my heavy body. Wish I could mod them without breaking the shell.

@@sethagastya I always like the option of replaceable cables to change the cable length, find one that's less microphonic, different connectors, or different split.
