Great story! I did not start my hunting journey until my early 40s, adding waterfowl at 46. I cannot imagine not hunting.

Happy to see someone make the connection between the land, game birds and gun dogs.

I love how she adopted her dog. I bought my first dog (black lab) and trained him myself for my style of hunting. Luckily he had most things naturally so once he figured out what I wanted there wasnt a whole lot of training. But he's getting older now and as a college student now I wasnt sure how I would be able to pay for my next hunting dog and send him go training as i would want a pointing breed. I had never thought about adopting a hunting dog. I'm glad to have watched this video because now in the future a hunting dog is going to get his second chance at life in the outdoors.

Such a great video, and message within it. Too many people are happy to eat meat with no understanding of how it got on their plate! To be able to go out and hunt, with and end result of putting a meal on your families table is an incredible thing. I would love to hunt in the US one day - Stunning scenery!

I agree with you 100%. Having two daughters and a son training my first dog we're lucky enough do you have a friend that had a farm in southern Wisconsin having family and my dog with me hunting some of the greatest experiences I've ever had. Hopefully you and your cousin can keep hunting even if you don't get anything it's still just great to get out there have fun

Remarkable story, young lady...!! Your love for the outdoors is patently obvious, and genuine... I've found that a lot of women are into the outdoors, (specifically hunting) because they think that's the type of women that men want... For me, personally, I like a woman who truly loves and enjoys the outdoors because SHE loves and enjoys the outdoors; there isn't any better time spent with one's partner than time spent outdoors chasing wild roosters and quail in the field(s)...

Marissa, I just loved this video. When I worked as an outdoor journalist, people couldn't even imagine women like you. I always promoted involving women in outdoor sports, and one of my best articles was titled "Why I Hunt with Women." It is wonderful that women like you are now in the sport. I would have loved sharing a day in the fields with you.

Where can I get one of the orange bibs that you use on your GSP? Never seen one before and would prevent a lot of nicks while working heather here in the UK.

lion country supply or ugly dog. I use them mostly when I'm mountain grouse hunting or ruffed grouse in Minnesota to protect the dogs chest if he jumps over a down log and there is a dead branch sticking up from another log.

Because it's not lowland waterfowl. Upland is anywhere away from coast .
