Saving things because others do is a real trap Ian! I don't save any capacitors and I'm 100% convinced that recovering gold plating from pins etc is never going to even close to economical on a hobby level! Congrats on your 15k by the way! 😀

Ian I don’t know what u do with the board once u have stripped them,but the gold corner bag has the most gold. Strip them off and put them in a tub.I process these using fire and acids to get the gold, Either ebay them or send them to me the yield dose vary as some are better than others. I’m sure Iris scrapper has mention this to you. The little blue smarties you strip in theory should have silver in them the older ones do again it’s fire and acid although silver is not that expensive now. Misfits also have gold in the black material although not much. Again if you are throwing the Gold corner bags put them in an ice cream tub when full I will process and split the value of the gold with you.

If u watch a guy called owlteh he does a load of them and was really disappointed in the yield. Getting rid of boards is a pain if they have been striped. I don’t have a local yard that will take just boards so I just put them with my general scrap.

There's different types of electrolytes in caps, it depends on operating temperatures required. We were taught that they are mildly toxic but not lethal. The lower temperature caps had a mixture of borax and an oil base (usually glycol). The higher temperature types had various organic compounds. I remember they were identified by initials but I can not remember what they are called. Soap and water, jobs a good'en.

I was brought a bottle of Potcheen back from Eire, from a mate who stayed at a farm when fishing there. I did a vid where I poured some on the table and lit it- potent stuff.
