Enjoyed the tour....thanks ! It's been awhile since you've done a vid in the parlour Poor abused animals....lol.....they've got the life of Riley ! Eating as much as you like, sleeping anytime you want, hanging with your BFFs all day every day.....body brush......and you NEVER have to do any housework, it's all done for you every...single....day !! I have no idea what all the fuss is about with those crazy people.....lol

Yes, but they decided that they would require too much maintenance, due to the sand bedding.

They're supposed to indicate when a cow isn't scanned into the parlor correctly for tracking. However, it was never setup, so the lights just flash whenever the parlor is active.

They just had their new parlor built less than 5 years ago. They plan to upgrade to a rotary parlor, but that will probably be many years in the future.

Nice clean white milk that isn't watery, flakey, clotted, or discolored. All signs of mastitis. swollen teats, a small quarter, a hot utter can also be signs. The milk plant also does a quality insurance test multiple times before the milk is processed.

Jan -- aren't you terrified like at 1:08, with those ladies all coming at you? A politician in our Minnesota Legislature just said that cows are dangerous and will trample a human into dust -- which is why farmers have to always carry a loaded gun with them.* Funny, I don't see Jan wearing a holster & six-shooter! Never wore one on our farm, either. (As if such a gun would even deter a stampeding herd!) * He was arguing against a bill requiring child-safe storage for guns in homes.

They average around 300 cows. Their record high is around 360. Their cows average 33L (8.71 gallons) per day.

On a typical milking day cleaning requires lots of water. Can you estimate how much water is used? Where does this wash down water end up?

It drains into their waste water pit. Which is recycled a few times to wash the parlor alleys and the holding area. After that, it's sent to their manure lagoon.
