@The Truth v Brendan Fraser I worked in dog racing for 3 years. I grew up around horses, ive worked at a zoo, exotic animal rescue, dog boarding, dog training, farm sitting. I understand how animal racing works and I have experience racing myself. I have like 1000x more experience than MOST people. Its called an informed opinion. I don;t have to have worked in a racing stable myself to understand how this works. Plus Ive known people who steeplechase and stuff. Its not something I ever gave serious thought. But its group think and confirmation bias (like you are doing RIGHT NOW) that is keeping the is crap beinga thing. Its the same with this sled dog racing BS. its not cool. Its gross. And most people don't really understand how it works and Its kinda neat and fun. But having been out here racing and seeing all the cracks, yea, its a huge issue. And im seeing it in a much smaller group of people that gets way less pressure. There are only a few hundred racing mushers in the us and Canada. Its horse racing in a bottle. You can analyze the entire history and trajectory. Look at the entire world of mushing racing and non. Litterally every person involved in the activity. And yea, Its not good. Competitive racing is not whats best for any of these animals. Decades (CENTURIES) of evidence anecdotal, statistical, and scientific to back me up.

Never been so sure of anything in my life. Competitive Animal Racing is Cruel.

@The Truth v Brendan Fraser In dog sled racing. All the "bad apples" are simply the people in the business of winning and selling winning animals. Its just structured to reward all the wrong people. There are only so many ways to win theses things. Racing is a cruel activity. its not about finding the fastest animals. Its about getting rid of the slow ones. We need to end animal racing in the same way we ended animal fighting in this country.

@The Truth v Brendan Fraser All racing is an endurance sport. The iditarod is like 1000 miles. Thats hard on a dogs body AND mind. Fighting is an endurance sport too. You train fighting dogs by getting them to run. Its more than just bite work. And its not like people get into dog fighting because they HATE dogs. No, its the opposite, they like dogs and they like feeding and training and dialing in the diet and stuff. The key to dog fighting is healthy well kept dogs. Its also pretty social and stuff. Thats the way it used to be atleast, look at roosterfighting culture, its all good ol boys and such. Dog fighting used to be pretty similar and that was pretty common until the past few decades. Endurance sports with animals is cruel. You are either breeding them to be better, or pushing them to be better. Or some combination of the two. Its no mystery how any of this works. Racing animals is bad. We just get mad at people for knowing how to win. Thats what I keep seeing. What it takes to win, and win regularly, Sucks. Racing rewards all the wrong people. It needs to go away. I kind of like pigeon racing, but even it becomes cruel at some point. No racing sport gets a pass from me. They really do all more or less work the same.

I definitely agree that the course is amazing. I would love to be at a barn and be able to ride in a place like that. Would feel so refreshing. I can see where you're coming from about not supporting the racing industry. While the news looks like horses die constantly, you can actually look on The Jockey Club's website and look at the statistics. They keep a close eye on tracks and everything, which is pretty neat. I do agree that some horses come out of the sport in a bad shape and have issues in the long run, though I've sadly seen that in other horses from different disciplines. I would normally give a more detailed reply but my head hurts because this is what happens when I oversleep :p

dear lord please do research! i studied the horse racing industry for about a month for a school project and learned a lot. most tracks have no kill policy and if you are caught breaking it you get a bad reputation and you are banned from the track. the number of deaths of racehorses have evened to the deaths of showjumpers and other disciplines.

@@rusty2998 I understand that, however a no kill policy only helps if it's the jockey or owner abusing the horse or killing it. The accidental deaths cannot be helped, and yes, I do understand that other parts of the sport, such as eventing, and especially competitive trail riding, do even out scores to some degree. However, I believe that a month is probably not a good amount of time to completely understand the racing industry. Bad stuff does happen there, and just to list a few, acid shots, abuse, etc. I know that not every single industry is bad, but unfortunately the ones that are the biggest are usually the most corrupt. And then, theres also the matter of that I politely requested that people do not come on my comment and get angry at me for my opinion. I respect yours, I would be much obliged if you would respect mine. I understand that you develop your opinions from research, I develop mine from hands on work with horses over the seven years that I have rehabilitated and trained horses. So, I would really appreciate it if people didnt come on here getting angry and calling me ignorant or uneducated on the topic. Thank you, though for providing your opinion.

@@thatonedog819 By using the get down rope if you feel you must use a bit in the horse's mouth. It is way better for the horse and rider to use a rope halter with lead line converted to reins or a traditional hackamore.

I had a horse in Essex England and rode on private land , never was stopped by police, yet scrambler motorbikes where chased down by police on scrambler bikes. Thats how it is in England , the walking public dont like the loud noise of bikes in countryside.

hunting is similar. if they ride on private land they get permission from the land owners in advance. this situation could be different but theres my guess.

Not illegal at all, you simply get a permit from the rangers and off you go. It’s a massive expanse of land, I ride here fairly regularly and you don’t see much of the general public as it’s a couple of national parks interconnected.

Scramblers are banned for the same reason they are banned in Liwa desert in the Emirates- sand dunes are fragile. The speed of a scrambler combined with the fact that scramblers tear up ground rather than spring across it like an animal does causes a great deal faster and heavier rate of erosion than any horse would. Scramblers disrupt ecosystems, horses are part of those ecosystems (horses have lived in Merthyr Mawr and Ogmore Sands for centuries).

I’m a show jumper and a hunter but I loved this video. He treats his horses amazingly from what I can see and it’s great to see the horses having fun and relaxing

Didn't you notice they quite often jump fairly high jumps? I'll tell you what, if those horses don't have success on the track, many may end up quite nice hunters or event horses after retirement
