This is how to speed up your learning curve if there ever was one! Not something I’d usually say, but this works wonders!
Find a drum groove, crank it up and just start playing. Period! You will improve greatly if you focus on playing in time. That’s crucial! Have fun with it!

No extra charge for mistakes here! This is AMAZING practice and not easy. I’m playing A to C then D. Treating each one as a Dom7 vibe. Hope y’all dig it!

This is simply bad-ass playing. Astonishingly great. Can’t stop listening to it. I didn’t learn a lot from this, but it definitely inspired me to put more hours in and do the work. No shortcuts. Thank you for your time and inspiration GT, it really helps! You make us WANT to get better.

So amazing that a great player like yourself shows us that practice is still essential, at all levels and that knowledge is better shared than hoarded. Someone else may have said this before me in these comments, good for them! You need to hear the positive messages, regularly. Have a good one....

An absolute joy to watch ..... so many guitarists bore me after a while (as great as they may be) but this guy is a real pleasure ..... I haven't spent SO much time watching videos in a long time. Makes me want to pick up the guitar even though I know in 100 lifetimes I'll never get anywhere near this ...... he makes it look so easy and fun. Great stuff Guthrie

I like using EZ Drummer for this kind of practicing. Super easy, lots of beats/styles available, sounds great, I can change the tempo, etc. It doesn't sound as good as when you do it though 😅 That intro was great - I'll be borrowing a few thing from that!

Not sure if someone already got this out there, but the reason your bass track is off is latency-the time it takes to process the signal. There’s a definitely a way to set that in your software so that when you record, it’s tracking in time.

Is that the one with all the nuts and bolts shaped into musicians that swing back and forth? I love that one. Ambient Backing Tracks is awesome as well for some great drone sounds. On your computer, you can start up a rhythm track then open up another page and play one of these drones. Solos for days and in key after key. I practice Guthrie's triads and arpeggios that way a lot. Im a gettin there and lovin it.
