Just came back from a trip to St. Herman's as a newly illumined Orthodox Christian. It was such a great experience that I recommend to others. Thank you father for this interview. It was a pleasure to have met you and the other brothers.

Fr Damascene used to serve our humble little church he made me a catachumen late 90's. He authored 'His Life and Works' Of Seraphim Rose. This is a great and humble monk.

Please pray for us in Canada. Those of us who wish to imitate the Fathers have nowhere to go. No one to reach out to for direction. Our culture is suffering so much. We don’t know how to reach it. How to spread the gospel. We need prayer.

[6:51] And preach with this (Quran) to those who reverence the summoning before their Lord-they have none beside Him as a Lord and Master, nor an intercessor-that they may attain salvation. [6:52] And do not dismiss those who implore their Lord day and night, devoting themselves to Him alone. You are not responsible for their reckoning, nor are they responsible for your reckoning. If you dismiss them, you will be a transgressor. [5:15] O people of the scripture, our messenger has come to you to proclaim for you many things you have concealed in the scripture, and to pardon many other transgressions you have committed. A beacon has come to you from GOD, and a profound scripture. [5:16] With it, GOD guides those who seek His approval. He guides them to the paths of peace, leads them out of darkness into the light by His leave, and guides them in a straight path.

My dad's face, when he reposed, was so bright and he looked 20 yrs younger! The nurse said " You can see his spirit leaving" Well I could not, but we could not believe how young he looked. I was a nurse and never saw that before. It does not happen a lot.

Thank you Father for this wonderful recollection of Father Serafim Rose. Oh how I wish I had known about him when I was visiting friends who attended University of California, Santa Cruz, in 1980. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if he is to be our first American born Saint? I hope I am still here to witness this! Glory to God.

His suffering was so hard. Then we think of our Lord and how He suffered too. Just to be relieved and be set free, caused Father Seraphim Rose to just let go and be with the Lord. He knew everyone loved him, and no one wants to be held down in this way, The Lord knew when he was nto able to withstand another minute, and was quick to lift him up!

The Russian Church/ Monastery/ Seminary in Jordanville is a Seminary in which his friend (cannot remember the name right now, but he graduated from there and he was god-father to the sister of Mary and her name was Catherine. ( He has a long name) Perhaps you knew him?

@@Hwy36W Yes, you are exactly right! Thank you! You are a blessing. Fr Searaphim Rose was such an intelligent and gentle person. One of my friends at the church , was one of his god children. Her name is Mary, her sister Elizabeth was god daughter to Gleb Podmoshensky. That is another reason I want to remember . It is very important to me, anyway. There is much we can learn from the videos of Fr Seraphm Rose, and this video was done so very well ,and a great tribute to him,

@Kyril J I hope Im not sinning by writing this but some of the Fathers say that if people are enjoying life here they are going to pay later in the after life and who is suffering here, without complaining, is going to enjoy the after life. Of course I cant speculate on the people you know but this what I know from the church fathers writings.

I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee (Hebrews 13:5). Ye shall seek Me, and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart (Jeremiah 29:13). Seek His face always (Ps. 104:4). The hand of our God is upon them for good that seek Him; but His power and His wrath is against all them that forsake Him (Ezra 8:22). The Lord searcheth all hearts and understandeth the imagination of thoughts; if thou seek Him, He will be found of thee; but if thou forsake Him, He will cast thee off forever (1 Chronicles 28:9, cf. 2 Chronicles 15:2). The Lord will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. And they that know Thy name will put their trust in Thee: for Thou Lord, have not forsaken them that seek Thee (Ps. 9:10). If My people, which are called by My name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin (2 Chronicles 7:14).

With due respect nowhere in the bible does it say pray to saints who have passed away. This is a Catholic error much taught for centuries but the scripture says the dead have no part with the living.
@Rayblondie
@Rayblondie 6 жыл бұрын
Just because an error has been repeated for centuries doesn't make it correct. There is only one mediator between man and God the Man Jesus Christ. We are told from the scripture that the dead have no part with the living and also not to contact the dead. Check it out.
