A teaching by Kalu Rinpoche in one of his French centre in la Boulaye, at the Temple of the 1000 Buddhas in December 2011.

Such a difficult path he chose. A Rinpoche - publicly! - living out his Buddhist principles within the difficult realities of the modern world. Suffering as we do (or worse - sexual abuse and a murder attempt too). And stumbling as we do (alcoholism, drug addiction). But the result is that his very life and the way he deals with it is an ongoing and powerful teaching itself, because he comes closest to what we face everyday. Isn't that precisely the Buddhist teacher we modern people need?

Excellent, I am not Buddhist but his way of explaing things resonates with my yoga practice. There is so much rigidity everywhere, even in traditions where I naively thought were free from this. We must find our own path and rely on our inner wisdom. Thank you Kalu for being so refreshing and staying out of dogma :). Much love ♥ Namaste!

I like his energy.. He is very clear and brilliant. I like that he is getting at dissolving the mental constructs and attachments of "Buddhist philosophy and religion" and getting at higher truths beyond tradition. I just have a different understanding of what the Buddha accomplished but that may be just another construct of mine. Buddha went beyond understanding and philosophy and a new way of thinking as Kalu Rinpoche seems to suggest. The Buddha merged all of his selves with the endless universes and dissolved into the clear light of reality beyond time, space, and duality. Enlightenment has nothing to do with thinking or philosophy or anything...

Sorry about that, I must have been tired. I must admit it is great to have a lecture in English, and be able to listen to it. Thank you for posting it.

Sorry about the edit. Rinpoche was speaking in France and was translated from English to French. The translator was often speaking longer than Rinpoche himself. This explains the montage and why Rinpoche does a little rewind every time he starts again behind the translator.

I love what Rinpoche says about there being only one Dharma, which people then divide up according to their own preferences. I hate hearing members from one school engage in polemics against another school. We need the whole Dharma (or Dhamma), not just Therevada or just Mahayana or just Vajrayana.

This talk is ok for the begineers. It helps. The talk related on five afflictions like desire, as i think, if you wait for the result, you will be too late. So we should think before. Anyhow, the results of five afflictions is always negative. And about karma. Rinpoche said, he doesn't believe in karma. Actually the word karma means action. Every action has equal opposite reaction. Good karma good result. Bad karma bad result. Its a universal truth. Everyone should believe this......

I just saw this and wanted to share - in Australia an enlightened master named Sri Avinash is transmitting the enlightened state, what he calls the Satori Transmission. You can see in video people are experiencing a taste of enlightenment through him within minutes. 🙌 I didn't believe it until I saw it. See for yourself! #sriavinashsatori 💛🤲

Interesting talk. Kalu Rinponche is very refreshing. Seems like he has a different perspective compared to many other Buddhist teachers. Loves what he said about all Buddhist path`s arise from the same being, the Buddha. It`s just different interpretations. It`s interesting to think about how there were so many different directions Buddhism took. Which one is closest to the original teachings of the Buddha? I would like to go deeper into the Buddhist practices but I feel it is difficult to know which lineage or master to follow. How do you know if it`s the right one for you? Maybe it`s a good idea to go to different teachings and see how what the teacher says resonates with you. Also I wonder why there are so few female teachers. To me at least it feels surprising that an awakened path leading to an empathetic and compassionate state would be discriminate against women. Still it felt like something was missing. Not sure why though. And I am hesitant in regards to making Buddhism more Westerner. That was quite a long post. Hope someone has the time and will to read it, would love to get someone else´s thoughts and reflections. Have a beautiful day.

No you dont need religion to live your life, you need your life to live religion. That is the point but people just dont get it because they create beliefs on words, on things, on people and through attachments they create distance between them and their true nature...

This is the young man who was physically and sexually abused by his teacher and other monks I believe. Buddhism needs to do a house cleaning like the Catholic church still needs to do. That is pure evil IMO. This is a fine young spirit IMO. I dig this guy even though I don't agree with everything he believes. I think he comes from a pure heart.
