For those interested, The source material I use is " A brief introduction to theta functions" by Richard bellman. The entire solution can be found on pg 59 onwards which includes Hermite's method.

Pretty cool. My attempt to throw stuff at the wall was doing a closed integral of ζ on a rectangle between the arbitrary quartet of poles w, 1-w, w* and 1-w*. By the residue theorem it's 0, and if w=1-w* and w*=1-w - a.k.a. Re(w)=1/2 - then the horizontal integrals would be 0, so if the horizontal integrals were 0 there was a chance it was true. Maybe analysing the sign of the real or imaginary part would help it I thought (but given the holomorphism that might not succeed). The reflection formula can be applied, but whatever integrand you get always ends up very dang annoying. Needless to say, I didn't solve anything.

If there is an error, a possibility for it is a circularity where you use some fact that itself ultimately depends on some aspect of the RH. Or some critical factorization or whatnot that is not always true. In any case, nice attempt. Good math, good bollocks.
