years ago when I was in the navy, I played a tin whistle because as an Engineer, I could play it, and hear it in the Engine Room. Sometime back I stopped playing, it's probably been 20 years now. I've been thinking of taking up the guitar, and not the penny whistle because I want deeper sounds. Honestly, until this moment, I didn't know the Low D existed... Thank You, now I have to rethink some things. lol

Low D may be most common. But there are low whistles in several different keys. This piece is on the Howard Music channel - Howards of Sheffield, England make this low D, with several different mouthpieces. Once I bought one, I basically retired pretty much the other half dozen whistles of mine. Because this one does so much. It's unlike playing a high D - for me anyway - because I can wave a finger near a hole to bend a note, I can easily add vibrato and it does so much more on each note. It's very personal for me.

You will need to learn the pipers grip look at her left hand. Words, it’s very pricey, but carboney whistles has a more compact version of a low d whistle . I must say well worth it I have a Low d Dixon, resin, tunable whistle. And the carbon one from carbony with the more compact holes.
@healingenso79235 ай бұрын
@@stevewolfe3214 - the Howards whistle is 2/3 brass 1/3 tin (dampens the resonant 'tinginess' you would otherwise get from brass) and produces a sound which I find far more preferable than the simple dull sound of carbon fiber.

Beautifully played. The low whistles remind me of what I imagine are the mediterranean-esque origins of the gaelic culture. The sounds of our people, alongside the Greeks, the Scythians, Carthage and the fathers of Moors or Berbers.
