If you are looking for trolls keep reading beyond this comment, because you know its the internet. If you want a legit comment about the content of the video, read on. This is video for those DIY people on a budget. No where does it say that this is how to professionally install carpets. I run a equipment rental company and help people do projects all the time. This video is great. It's super simple and easy to understand. The tools are cheap. All these people talking about carpet stretchers need to understand budget/cost and how that effects home owners. I am not a professional and do not claim to be. Let this guy put out some decent content to help people save some money. You keep doing you Edgar Ramos. Forget these carpet haters.

Yeah but honestly not everyone can knee a knee kicker like that, my first time I thought I blew out my knee, now I can rip the carpet if I go to hard. And the way it was done the carpet will bubble as soon as the summer gets there. Just pay someone who knows the proper way to stretch it.
@frankloucks92664 жыл бұрын
Well said Phillip. You go Edgar, I hope this drummed up some extra installs for. It’s about the homeowner saving where he can. Many homeowners are smart and can learn from this. KZfaq is great for that. When I got new helpers in my install biz I’d go to rental stores and help them buy their own 1st toolbox for them to get their own mojo on. If you’re good business is always good.

You forgot your stretcher. Proper ways to install even a bedroom includes a stretcher. If you do not use a stretcher your carpet is going to get loose in the near future. Seeing waves in your carpet is exactly what I'm talking about. After an installer installed your carpet you can pull it up in the middle of the room with your fingers and if it doesn't pull up and it's nice and tight you will be able to tell. Hope this advice helps someone out there 👍

By a professional flooring installer you do not use a kicker to stretch carpet, you use a stretcher, lol.Ive been installing since 1871, I'm a master installer and never kick a carpet in, never. Although I do appreciate it when my customer calls me and I make really great money fixing their problems, can usually get 3-4" more on a power stretcher, thanks for this, gives me more $$$$.

I'm going to stop you right there bud. I appreciate this video for the common household do-it-yourselfer. You and I both know that when you make this look easy it just gives a homeowner and idea and their head that they could talk down there carpet installer because supposedly this job is easy. No it's not brain surgery but when you're doing one two three home today or when you're doing a 3000 square foot home it gets pretty hard and old fast. But you need to explain to people is when they don't tuck in the carpet correctly it allows air draft to blow through and that's why people have dark lines of dirt and dust 2in out from the carpet along the baseboard. Also I give it 6 months of people walking on it before it bubbles. You absolutely have to power stretch. Oh and also when leaving a room are you connecting it to a hallway carpet or you put in a z strip in. You may need seaming tape seaming iron. I've done about 4,000 homes throughout Washington it honestly is really rewarding job it also takes your you thought of you fast.

I noticed at 2:46 his knife which we often call( the Bloody Mary knife) fell out of his back pocket. This happens frequently to carpet installers. My dad was doing carpet on stairs had his knife in his back pocket it fell out and cut his lower leg down by his ankle and needed 30 stitches. That didn't stop him from finishing the job. He always did the stairs last so we only had about 30 minutes left of working. I ran out and got a bunch of napkins out of the truck and also an Ace bandage. He wrapped his leg up finished the job and went to his doctor who stitched him up. Those knives are very sharp and have four sides to them so you can switch it 4 times before the blade is dull

I’ve been in the Flooring business 40+ years. Ive been to numerous courses and are certified in ALL TYPES of flooring. I don’t know everything but when it comes to Flooring, I know what I’m talking about. No offense bud ,but nothing your guy did was correct. Not your fault someone taught you guys the wrong way.The only thing you use a kicker for these days is to set your walls. He’s not stretching anything with that kicker.Guarantee you it’s wrinkled, and if it’s not it will be 💯Manufacture requires you to use a power stretcher, and you don’t beat your knees up or tear holes in your carpet it’s a little more work but it’s easier and its 1,000 times tighter..also before you cut anything down you stretch past your doorways CLOSETS ETC.if possible. NEVER NEVER EVER CUT YOUR CARPET OVER PAD LIKE THAT. Carpet knives are scalpel sharp and you’re running it down your brand new baseboard… Not in my new house.Thats what a wall trimmer is for with a plastic guard to keep from scratching your base

yiu an idiot lmao. within a year or 2 that carpet will start having wrinkles because he didn’t use a stretcher
@Dr.Rosenbaum4 жыл бұрын
All you people that are being haters. DIY people will not get these results. This guy is a pro and he is stretching with his knee kicker. An amateur will not stretch with the knee kicker. You will seat it just fine, but after some time, the carpet will start to wrinkle.

It's midnight now and I'm finally to the point where I'm ready to install the carpet into a bedroom did I spent the day painting. Haven't never really observed a carpet stretcher being used so I stopped in to get some tips when I found this champion of installers making walking the park out of the job that's going to take me all night. I sure wish you were my neighbor right now. I'll be watching

You need to set and stretch across the room ( in front of the doors only BEFORE making the door cuts....Carpets shift as they are stretched and you end up with short miss at the doorway or seem....there are many things these guys are doing WRONG... rookies....says me...40 years in the trade....time to start my own video instruction......TBA

Now I'm in my 43rd year I think, but even helpers know not to relief cut the door, but since he only flattened the carpet, later on someone will get a inch both ways restreching it.

Gripper (tac strip) is much to far away from the wall. Almost an inch 😂

As you can see One month later he is going to have to re stretch again 🤣 That knee is not power stretch

If you can’t get a good stretch in a small room without a mini, your just suck at kicking

Can I put the tack strips on top of the pad or do they have to be right on the wood floor?
@thethe30653 жыл бұрын
They have to be in the wood floor around half an inch from the wall and the padding should be also around half an inch from the tack strips
