I have questions. When he discovered PTP was working when it shouldn’t, why didn’t he speak to Cindric about it over the radio? His statement that, it is my responsibility to know the rules” implies that he was ignorant of this rule. That’s complete BS. At the time he was a two time champion and Indy 500 winner. He knew the rules. But what I don’t get is why he, the ultimately responsible party, got off with a lighter punishment than the team. He lost the win and the points and the team lost the win and the points. Those on his team received a one race suspension, but Newgarden did not. Why is that? Penske said he had nothing to do with the punishment decision and that may well be true. However, the people that did make the decision and knew that Newgarden is Penske’s “fair headed boy.” That had to affect the decision. It is my opinion that Newgarden should have received the exact same punishment as his teammate. No more, no less. And now, Newgarden’s win at Indy lends even more credibility to my opinion. Not that they cheated at Indy, but that Newgarden was/is the major weapon in Penske’s arsenal and Roger’s obsession with Baby Borgs is quite well known. Well, that’s just my opinion.
