Kevin uses good psychology - he FIRST PUTS HIMSELF DOWN so others feel more comfortable and don't feel like losers. Later on he speaks of his success' which is incredibly important because smart guys make it rich more often by copying other winners vs failing over & over trying to re-invent the wheel (Although if you manage to successfully reinvent the wheel, you've just hit a home run with 10 times the payoff as the former method. That said, more success comes more often from the 1st idea

Wow! This is so much more helpful than I imagined it would be. I've been hearing that word "balance" a lot lately... Apparently, a lack of balance (at this point) is a good thing. Thank you Mr. Wonderful and @iveybusiness!

From 17 - 30 had no personal life. At 21 lost long term girlfriend & most of my highschool friends. Different interests: No longer was into smoking pot, booze etc, - which I did my fair share of, but I gave it up to persue my dreams Some regret - But at 43 I work 15 hours a week (replaced myself at work) with a kind sweet wife 10 years younger, 2 amazing children, And YES YES YES!! it was worth it! I will retire at 45 w/130K lifetime income that will go up w/inflation (rental income)

I love it man. I can relate. Though I'm still in the 17-30 no personal (I'd rather call it social) life. I have a personal life of sorts, just not a social life. But I can relate with what you wrote. I like it :)

I do get it actually. This man could lay in the couch his whole life and still live like a king, he can do whatever he wants whenever he wants, he can buy anything and everyone. I believe that is what you are referring to (If not please explain), that's why my first sentence "i AGREE that having money is freedom".

He reminds me of Mr Scrooge from the Christmas Carol. Remember how Scrooge sacrificed every thing and became a filthy rich old man that was starved for companionship all his life and only realized that when he had one foot in the grave. Think about all the joy and love that he missed out on all his life. ( A Huge regret! ) Plus theirs no guarantee that your going to get filthy rich when you get into your 70s And big deal if you do it's not like your going to take it with you. You can pet a gold bar all you want but it's never going to love you back. If you balance your life it can turn you into a happy millionaire. If you sacrifice your life for the business, it can turn you into a old crotchety and lonely BILLIONAIRE. The beauty of life is that you get to choose what path that you want to take. But choose wisely! You only have one life to live. You don't get a 2nd chance. Scrooge had a mansion with a huge vault full of gold and only himself to spend it on. It was such a sad scene that even the poor people felt sorry for him at the restaurant. Once he put the work blinders on he couldn't see anything else.

that was serious. But at the end of the day I feel its up to you to decide what you consider success. Fuck that, gimme the money first. THEN I could start, raise and support my family. JJust my opinion.

This "lack of balance" would also be true for actors. It's pretty much an all or nothing proposition.

I agree that having money is freedom.. But when you are preferring money over your family you are running into slavery.. the contrary.

Well, that's partially true. I don't need that much of wealth to achieve financial freedom, but competition nowadays require more commitment because people are more expendable nowadays. There are other people, foreign and domestic, that are prepared to put more effort and talent to get more money, so you have to keep up. But you don't need life's dedication to make that happen. I'm working until I'm 40, and I'll retire with 4.5 million savings.

Mr Brette Wilson reached his level of success BECAUSE he sacrificed though, it's only after the fact that he is able to look back and say it wasn't worth it. The difference is Kevin is OK with it and Brett isn't. It's a matter of personal preference.

got it: love is replaceable, chasing money is the only noble pursuit. on my deathbed i want to know that the numbers in my bank account were the highest they could have been, not have people around me that ""love"" me

+Krieg Papagai That is completely not what he's getting at. Kevin is saying that when you're young, you need to be driven and take advantage of the energy you have. More important, you have to surround yourself with people that support you're ambitions. It has nothing to do with 'numbers in a bank account'.

He's giving the wrong advice. You can be successful and have a family. He should be talking about how to do that but the problem is he doesn't know how so what can he say except to do what he has done. Narrow minded.
