I am extremely proud 🥲 to call myself a native, Born on lake Okeechobee in 1993 😇😍🥰🫀. Even if it takes a $$trillion to restore the native life I’m all for it.

The costs to restore/preserve the Everglades pales in comparison to the money gained from big business and people using it... The costs in not restoring the Everglades is much much greater. It's concerning how people don't see this!

@@mrjonesyyy There was a great Ted Talk on better healthier fish. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/aquFdLCWl8_cc30.html The best case scenario outlined in that talk is what the Everglades is. A natural watershed. We need to preserve it for the ability to responsibly harvest healthier fish, tourism, and preserving a vital life blood of the local and surrounding eco system.

still so much is needed to save this ecosystem and with rising sea levels and invasive species i fear it is almost pointless. But i am so glad us humans who care do not give up this fight to protect what is precious and intrinsically valuable

I grew up in the Everglades . Over my lifetime , I've watched it go from bad to worse . I remember the day when you could catch Native species fish . Now ,, well ,,,, no more . I have said it in the past , and I'll say it again . When the last American leaves South Florida , "Grab the flag , and turn off the lights ".

all good. but rising seas are not the problem. we haven't had any real recorded sea level rise in Florida despite what people used to say the water is in the same place, and same depth.

"rising seas"? The seas have been rising since the ending of the last ice age, that is for 10-15,000 years. The rate of rise in the seas has not increased. It is entirely normal .

not all of humanity is responsible, racial capitalism and settler-colonialism, and the people who benefit the most from them are largely to blame. BUT we can change and adapt to our new world :) and we will, but it will take a lot of reflection on how we uphold those systems as individuals and unlearning the actions that cause harm to the Earth and other people

What part of of the world hasn't been almost completely exploited for "progress." Something like 95% of old growth forest have been cut down in America, most trees in the forest are teenagers, very young. Over half of all wetlands have been dredged. Elk and moose used to be in many northern states, now only a few. The list goes on and on. Some good stories have come but many not until it's too late. We are the next great extinction.

This issue is exacerbated by Republican politicians who have dominated Florida politics over the past few decades. Unfortunately, as long as Floridians continue to vote for these people, very little, if anything will change.

It's pretty amazing how there is so much information available on the internet, yet people will choose to say such idiotic things. Yes the sea levels have been rising, but humans releasing greenhouse gasses is causing this to happen at an unnatural rate. Do people not realize that millions of people are already being effected by this. Its pretty obvious that this is a problem. Thing holding us back are people like this who want to close their eyes and pretend as though there isn't a problem with cities and wildlife being destroyed by our own actions. Very sad!
