Nijay Gupta was a confused, superstitious Hindu and he abandoned his family religion to become a Christian. Since then he's found his place in the world. He has written several academic books including on the New Testament. Why did he abandon the religion of his family? Why does he believe Jesus is the only way? In this video, I interview Nijay about his story and more. Please join us and consider sharing with a friend.

You were playing and you hear the voice of the Lord. How were you praying and what were you praying about when you heard the Lord's voice? Tell your family exactly how you prayed and what you prayed about, maybe they will receive the Lord through his voice or his touch or just his presence.

I was born a Hindu, converted to Christianity & went to service 4 times/wk. I had to leave the church environment for a while so I started reading the Bible myself (rather than a preacher doing the reading for me). I read some good things, some ordinary things and tons of bad things that is in the Bible. It became clear to me that this book is not Devine work. I denounced that fake Christian’s god 54 years ago - no regrets whatsoever.

historians consider the Goa Inquisition the most merciless and cruel ever developed. It was a machinery of death. A large number of Hindus were first converted and then persecuted from 1560 all the way to 1812! Over that period of 252 years, any man, woman, or child living in Goa could be arrested and tortured for simply whispering a prayer or keeping a small idol at home. Many Hindus -- and some former Jews, as well -- languished in special Inquisitional prisons, some for four, five, or six years at a time

@Govind_hind_sanatan Yes, it was done by the Portuguese Catholic church. That is not Christian. It's impossible to force people to become Christian. They committed murder for their own pleasure. It was satanic, not Christ like. People have and will always use Christianity to commit atrocities. It doesn't mean Christianity isn't true it just means there are bad people out there, as the Bible says.

@@Govind_rana500I am a Manglorean Catholic, a descendent of the people who fled the Goan Inquisition. The Inquisition never affected Hindus, rather it affected the Catholic Christian converts who willingly converted but did not let go of a few of their previous hindu customs and continued to practice those in the church. Your opinion regarding Hindus being forcibly converted on a massive scale is at best hogwash.

This is probably a strange thing to say but I am fairly into conservative politics and had become very interested in Vivek Ramaswamy (probably would have voted for him if he hadn't already dropped out). He is a 1st gen American from India and a Hindu. Its been really interesting to hear his experiences with Christianity and to hear him defend why Christians should vote for him. Anyway, last night I had a dream (and I don't dream often at all). Don't remember all of the specifics but he was under attack in my dream. All day I have had the urge to pray for him. That Jesus would rescue him from attack and that he would see the love of Jesus and realise that Jesus is the one who created him. Not sure if seeing this video about a "Hindu's" conversion to Christianity in my feed on same day is coincidence or not, but I appreciate this interview and urge people to pray for those who don't know Jesus.

Most of us go through periods of doubts. Find a fellow believer who is knowledgeable in the area you have questions in. Pray for guidance. Read your Bible. For me, periods of doubts have ultimately served to strengthen my faith, and oftentimes by causing me to reevaluate what I thought I knew, resulting in me discovering greater truths about Jesus. Find what it is that is causing you to doubt Jesus and ask yourself why. Then see if Jesus has an answer.

My brother, please look at archaeology. Ezekiel and prophecies of Tyre, and how Alexander the Great scraped it to the bedrock and threw it into the sea. Or the sulphur and salt found around where Sodom used to be. About the inscriptions of Nebuchadnezzar. And Daniel 11 and Antiochus IV. And Erastus of Corinth. And much much more. Please, no blind faith is needed. You believe, now you study. Mike Winger, Frank Turek, askcliffe, Skip Heitzig and more are good teachers. They are all very careful with Scripture and show their work. And of course, check everything they say against the Bible, they are only men. God Bless your curiosity. Let you be hungry for knowledge of our Lord, and rest in comfort of certainty.

Exclusivity is the crux of abrahamic doctrines and none of the teachings in the so-called holy Books are practical or make sense - all childish 'my way or no way' rants, full of warnings of eternal hellfire for non-compliance and entry to Kingdom of heaven on taking exclusive membership! Jesus and Muhammad followers - as per their religious Books have invaded, looted, subjugated, converted and destroyed hundreds of civilizations since the 2 millenia and now their offsprings talk about wisdom with the same ideology that tortured and killed their ancestors. Jesus couldn't save himself, but can save all of humanity who praise him. Can it get more childish? Jesus forgives his murderers, but gives eternal hell to those who refuse to believe him as ultimate saviour - so ridiculously hilarious and tragic at the same time as billions believe in this crap. Christianity WAS CREATED BY JEWESS HELENA, THE MOTHER OF ROMAN EMPEROR CONSTANTINE THE GREAT IN 325 AD WHEN SHE COOKED UP THE BIBLE, TORAH, CHRISTIANITY AND JESUS AT THE FIRST COUNCIL OF NICEA.

I thoroughly enjoyed this conversation! Christians are often blamed for being too pushy. My only explanation is the fact that when you become a believer, you are filled with so much joy, that you want others to feel that same Joy! You want to tell the story how the spirit entered your life and made you feel so complete and so full of happiness! You simply want to share the tremendous love and caring that has come into your life. I can't apologize about it, I just want you to be filled with joy and happiness as well!

But keep in mind, every other person also thinks like u, i.e. for example, someone who thinks Krishna is the only omnipotent and omniscient, etc., similarly, a Muslim thinks Allaha is the only God. Way u say is only ur hunger is true and not others or only ur mother is the best but not others. U have not seen or met Jesus, then how can u be sure he even existed? The same is Krishna. What we all believe and pray is the Supreme Conciousness or the Spirit. Jesus and Krishna are fully 100% aware of it. U and I are not. Lord Jesus may bless u abundantly.

Bob Roman's summary: Here is a summary and outline of the key points from the article: Summary: The article is an interview with Nijay Gupta, a New Testament scholar who converted from Hinduism to Christianity as a teenager. Key points: - Nij grew up in a Hindu family in Ohio, but Hinduism was more cultural than devout for his family. As a kid, Nij struggled with feelings of not belonging and sadness. - In high school, Nij's older brother Neil converted to Christianity after being drawn to the love and community he saw in a local youth group. Neil invited Nij to attend the youth group too. - Nij quickly felt welcomed and loved by the Christian community. At a youth group retreat, he heard the gospel message of unconditional acceptance into God's family through Christ and felt he had found his place. - Telling his parents he was no longer Hindu was very difficult for Nij. It went against his family's culture to reject their heritage. His relationship with his parents was strained for some time. - As a new believer, Nij felt called to vocational ministry but ended up discovering a passion for scholarship. He now teaches at a seminary, helping prepare future pastors and ministers. - Nij continues to occasionally dialogue about faith with his father but he and his brother Neil remain the only Christians in the family. Nij has never regretted becoming a follower of Jesus. Outline: I. Nij's Hindu upbringing A. Parents immigrated from India B. Hinduism more cultural than devout for his family C. Struggled with loneliness and sadness as a child II. Neil, Nij's brother, converts to Christianity A. Drawn to love/community of a youth group B. Invites Nij to attend the youth group III. Nij converts after experiencing welcome and acceptance A. Youth group retreat - hears gospel message B. Finds place he belongs in God's family IV. Difficulty telling parents he's no longer Hindu A. Rejecting family's heritage very hard in their culture B. Strained relationship for some time V. Becomes New Testament professor rather than pastor A. Discovers passion for scholarship in college B. Now helps prepare future ministers VI. Remains committed believer decades later A. Occasional faith dialogues with father B. Only he and Neil are Christians in family

I love Nijay's honesty, especially his answer to the question of whether he would have been drawn to a Mormon or Muslim group who welcomed him with the same love. My feeling is that he would have responded in the same way and probably embraced the group and the religion, whatever it was. He would not have thought that these weren't true Christians because he had no knowledge at that point of the Bible or what "true" Christian might mean. People respond to love and acceptance, especially if they feel like a minority who are not generally accepted by society. I once met an Indian woman in Malaysia who taught at the same school as I. She was from Kerala, India, and told me the story of how Christianity had been brought to Kerala by the Apostle Thomas and that the Christians in that part of India trace their origin as Christians back almost 2,000 years. Her last name was actually Thomas. She related that when she and her husband first left India to live in Singapore, she was shocked by the culture and behavior of the Christians she met. Christian Indians share much the same culture with other Indians, such as arranged marriage, of never being left alone with her future husband until after they were married. Before I had met this lady, I had never heard this story of how Christianity had first come to India, and it's such a great story. If you look at a map, you can see how Thomas could have traveled to the Red Sea and taken a boat to India along with the traders who went back and forth. I had always thought that the British had first brought Christianity to India, or maybe the Portuguese. I think we all have the wrong idea about what "Hindu" means. The British invented this word for the people they found in India, not realizing that brown people were not all the same culture or ethnicity. And they assumed that the religion of Indians, those who weren't Muslim, were Hindus. It's similar to calling the religion of Europeans the European religion. Indians may share certain Holy Writings, but each family may have their own "god" they pray to. I've talked with educated Hindus who claim they believe in one Creator, and that the various gods being worshiped exemplify various attributes of the one God Creator. It seems really complex to me, and you might have to live there for a long time to appreciate what religion means in the hearts of Indians. And the Indian religious beliefs really do go back many thousands of years.

A person cannot abandon something they never had. A misfit loner child, despondent, fearful and vulnerable accepts a different belief system that his family never practiced in depth. Young Hindus talk to your parents and not religious sales people. Make your decision based on full knowledge and not fear mongering.

Nijay has all the grades fitting to be a poster boy for all indian Hindus to understand that Christ and Christianity is not up for sale as some sections of Indians think but it is the love, goodness and uniqueness of Christ and his teachings that compels people to merge into this community of believers. 35:33

Listen to him objectively. He said he doesn't represent Hindus. At about 6:40 . He is a convert. He accepts that. Like many converts like him in India. Rice bag phenomenon is common. Hence the pejorative. You should see the videos. I don't like putting down any faith other than Islam. But you whine and make it hard for me to resist. I find it a little Ironic that all of these kids that he went to school with didn't Bother with him when he was at school but they did as soon as he walked into their church. They welcomed him with open arms. Why weren't they kind to him at school?? Why are christians only kind in their own atmosphere??

Maybe because his features didn't match theirs ? Children are easily influenced by others just as some adults are. It would've only taken one child to befriend him for another to follow suit -whether it be in school or church. 😌

@@_30keerthana Well, I found out Christian does not completely fill the emptiness within me. It lacks the depth as provided by Hinduism. Initially I decided to do very basic research on Hindu philosophies and instantly drawn to it. Perhaps its in every Indian blood. But as time progressed I decided to to declare my faith. This is when I got cold shouldered. People begged, threatened, cursed me & family. Sad but I would not make the same mistake as my ancestors did by converting. I ma back to where all living things belong.

Way too many seeking truth *fail to find* because they're so easily led astray by worldly logic, sensuality, vain esoterism or specious mysticisms. *I know I was.* I'm an ex neo-vedantic (hindu roots) new ager. I used to be into so much "cosmic/spiritual" stuff: trance channelings, ancient wisdom, gnosticism, psychedelic drugs, hindu gurus and buddhist variants. I was illuminated by the *kundalini (serpent) spirit* then 7 years ago I got rightly enlightened by the *Holy Spirit* - who showed me what a fool I was before..... Spirit led to the REAL *Yahusha/Jesus Christ* and everything changed - *paradigm shifted* ...... This is being *BORN AGAIN* and it's an ongoing surprise to me 😁

I respect this man's testimony and it is certainly powerful for him but he was a nominal and even less of a practicing Hindu. So I have a friend who became almost a reborn Hindu. She started clinging to her religion because of bad things that happened in her family. She taught herself practices or learned from her people at their temple . Practicing Hindus are hard to convert, I've tried to talk to her about Karma and reincarnation vs. Christ and eternity and him dying for our sins and she thinks we have the same God and Jesus was an Avatar like the many Hindus have. So I don't think this is representative of real Hindus. Just like nominal Catholics don't know their dogma from practicing Catholics, unless they left the church and chose to disagree like I did!

Hinduism was brought to India by Aryans ( Bhramins ) who migrated from Mid east to India long ago . They adopted some from Budhism and destroyed Budhism and then established Hinduism in India . That too during the 7th Century Adhi Sankaracharya who preached Hinduism throughout India and established four major Madams . That's how Hinduism spreads in most parts of India. The oldest archeological evidences showed that Indian people never worshipped any gods and few they worshipped only the nature . So now the question is who created the nature and the earth . Answer is worship the one who created the earth and nature, and not the creatures . That is the son of God who came to earth as form of Human being to save the world . That is Jesus Christ . He never came to world to establish Christianity . He came to world to clear your sins . Accept Jesus as your saviour pls .
