The animators for this game deserve an award.

You know, as someone who didn't really enjoy Mercury Steam's Metroid 2 remake (or really any of their past work), I was really skeptical about Dread. But of course, it's a Metroid game so there was no way I wasn't going to play it. Bought 2 collector's editions. One to open, one to save in the box. I was nervous about the game, but still felt the desire to support the game and the series. Boy am I glad I did. The game was so much more fun than I expected. It really felt like a Metroid game. The game is an absolute blast to replay as well, fitting in nicely with the others in the series in that regard. So happy the game turned out as good as it did, just happy we are not only getting new Metroid games, but they are good ones at that. I still have a few gripes such as: 1) The sequence breaks are limited and the game is largely a very linear affair 2) The graphics are kind of underwhelming for a switch game when games like DK Tropical Freeze look as good as they do. 3) The areas themselves somewhat lack personality and a distinctive tone. Tend to blend together a little too much in my mind. 4) The soundtrack, while fitting for the places you will be visiting, doesn't leave much of a lasting impression, outside of a few exceptions. All that said, I loved the game and have replayed it more than 8 times already. It has just enough of the classic Metroid feel while implementing some modern ideas and game mechanics to keep it fresh in the current year. I hope if Mercury Steam continues to make Metroid games, they continue to refine what they have and attempt to address some of the games weaker aspects.

Every few months I stumble back into your channel and binge a bunch of videos you've done. Don't know why I kept forgetting to subscribe cause I like your work. Not gonna forget this time!

The living Quiet Robe disabled the EMMIs to provide Samus with a path to escape. After the X are released, one of them absorbed Quiet Robe's corpse and must have assimilated his memories as well. QR-X now has all the knowledge of Quiet Robe. They know who Samus and Raven Beak are. They know about Metroids, the Thoha's ability to control them, and Raven Beak's plan to revive them and create an army of them. QR-X decides that Samus must stay and deal with Raven Beak, but she must get stronger, so it reactivated the EMMIs, believing they will prevent her from leaving so that she must confront Raven Beak first. After Raven Beak is killed, QR-X sacrifices itself to deal with the last Metroid in existence. When Samus absorbs the QR-X, the Thoha genes cause the Metroid mutations to go dormant again. I do not think the QR-X was operating on just Quiet Robe's memories or just the X's instincts, but some strange combination of both. We see this strange behavior in Fusion when the X absorbed the crew's intelligence and tried to blow up the B.S.L. and when the SA-X fought the Omega Metroid and allowed itself to be absorbed when it failed. Samus comments later that the X's basic instincts are not fully compatible with their stolen intelligence.

Such a good game, what a time to be a Metroid fan. Are you going to do a video on Metroid Prime Remastered?

The X at the end wanted to get Samus off the planet. I'm guessing it wasn't the only X Parasite that made it to her ship. We saved some animals just like the last two games, we just won't know it until the start of Metroid 6.

Metroid is cool

Assumed nothing, Metroid Prime made it crystal clear the Chozo all moved on to a higher plane (E.g. died). I mean you have angry ghosts and everything. If Dread brings in real live Chozo, that's a pretty straight forward retcon.

Hey man, just some constructive feedback - i think you could work on your segues; rather than saying “in addition, Dread has _____” or “but of course that’s not all,” try to tie in your next subject in one relevant flow. For example, “since so much of Dread revolves around exploring your environment >>> [therefore] the addition of the scan visor can help….” instead of just randomly saying “also, Dread features a scan visor”. Segues can help a video script feel like an essay as opposed to some dude reading the features off the back of the box lol

Dread is the best metroid by a long shot. But it does have a massive flaw and that's its story which lacks any resolution that was promised and contradicts fusion and a super a few times
