Hey Jay. Dubai is in the UAE but yeah there are some very rich areas of India. You were probably thinking of Mumbai. These were not filmed in the order of broadcast, the first place he visited was Egypt. I love how Karl goes to meet the Indian holy man "Davram" and it turns out to just be a weird American bloke named Dave. Glad you're enjoying it so far. Edit: Wrote this bit by bit as I watched, posted, refreshed comments and most has already been said lol

Dubai is pretty much directly to the left across the sea from India, in UAE. The wealthy places in India are probably Mumbai and New Dehli, that's where the high rollers are. Though they probably have poor parts still for sure

I think other than the poverty - it's the locals all standing around watching and staring while being well within arms reach that would be a little off putting to me. The personal space boundaries are quite different there. . . 🤣
