Yep, totally a real thing but it is easy to assume they're BS, especially because cartoons portray them jumping like Olympic athletes.

This brings back childhood memories of playing with mexican jumping beans , i'm like Karl a bit confused on why they haven't heard of them in Mexico . The one's i had when i was a child were a gift from a neighbour who brought them back from a vacation in Mexico .

Hey, Mr.Jay, great reaction, first at all. There is a "history" for this egg thing in history even long befor christianity( i grewn up in a half-very catholic cristian household, my mother is, my father not so, to put euphemestically.). Some keywords: grave goods, lent, fertillity and so on. Karl is a good guy, in my opinion, to put some of those stuff in question for good reason in my opinion, but when people happy with it, why not, i guess. :D That's one of my favorite episodes, btw. Hope you're okay, 'til next next time.

Its not actually a worm in the tequila. Its a moth or beetle larvae they use. It started when a Mezcal maker found a larvae in his Mezcal and thought it improved the taste. So he kept doing it as a marketing gimmick. People copied the concept using tequila, which is similar but not as strong Mezcal

The noise thing, referred to as the Chichen Itza Chirp is supposed to mimic the sound of the quetzal bird. The bird being connected to one of their gods. Its assumed that it is the stairs causing it, causing the sound waves of the claps echo to get bounced about. Being so long ago noone knows if it was intentional or not. Historians have said that the priests would clap and say the noise was them communicating with their god

Pancake Day/Pancake Tuesday is a real thing in the UK. Technical name Shrove Tuesday, marking the begining (I think) of Lent. Its a leftover gimmick from a Christian holiday that isnt taken serious. We traditionally have pancakes with sugar and lemon juice on them. British pancakes are thin like crepes. I think it was something to do with you could only eat certain foods during Lent and a pancake was something made with those limited ingredients

I didn't know that... Wasn't it something about the flour during Lent had to be "unleavened" (I think that's the term) or non-self-rising.. My memory could be way off, it's been 30 years since I stepped inside a church lol. Thanks for watching!

I suspect Carl managed to enjoy this one due to a lack of long cramped bus rides, abysmal hotels and other pranks to stress him out. Sure he had the fireworks display - but I think that was more an outing for him and he got to have a day or two of just wandering and picking stuff himself. So he could get into the moment and enjoy it more. At least that's how it seems to me. 😃

I'm doing all seasons.. I was told that season 3 of "The Ricky Gervais Show" had spoilers for season one of this, so I switched over momentarily.. I still need to do season 3 of TRGS lol.. confusing a bit even to me (I had to write it down) ... I've also been warned that "Moaning of Life" will probably end up in a channel strike... I may try one episode to "test the waters" , but I want to get through these first ... Thanks for watching!

I was told the reason for the egg was that the shape of the rock that blocked the tomb that Jesus's body was in, was egg shaped. Which sounds a stretch. Were 7 foot egg shaped rocks just lying around back then? 😅 and how would they have moved it, a huge egg shaped rock would have made it far more difficult to move 🤪
