Adamantly, I dislikes this play when I first read it, I thought it was boring. But now as we're studying it in detail at school I've grown to appreciate it. It conveys great messages through the variety of different characters.

Excuse my nerdiness but my English enthusiast is showing... I really enjoy this play. I studied it for GCSE drama and then in GCSE English when I moved schools, and I saw the play performed live when I went with my drama group. I... really hate the English course, honestly, it's much worse than the drama one. But that aside, the performance was incredible. The one displayed here, though? Awful. Too loud, too much yelling, and the Inspector was COMPLETELY off. He's meant to be cold and calculated... him shouting and speaking so emotionally here ruined his performance. Even my classmate managed a better performance and I'm certain he's never taken a drama course in his life. I think a key aspect of the Inspector is his ability to stay calm even when Mr. Birling is yelling and getting angry, and when Mrs. Birling tests his patience, and when he makes accusations towards Eric. He's meant to be curt, a voice of clarity who puts together these events, never obstructed by emotion and speaking in a manner that unnerves the Birlings. When he cuts people off, it's not him yelling that makes them stop, its the shocking composure and seeming disregard of emotion that causes them to stop. Ugh I don't know, it really frustrated me as both a drama kid and an English nerd so... here are my thoughts I suppose!
