By the end of the 1960s it became clear the US did not actually hold sufficient gold to fulfil it's Bretton Woods obligations. On August 5th 1971 the US President, Richard Nixon, altered the rate to 38 US Dollars to an ounce of gold, and then ended the guarantee to exchange. By 1973 the rate was again changed to 42 US Dollars to the ounce. From then on, the US Dollar and all other currencies were valued against other currencies alone. The international currency market then became a truly fiat system without any vestige of a gold standard.

Current fiat monetary systems can be, and regularly are, devalued by money printing and inflation as 2020 and 2021 have once again shown. lol. I have seen those gold foiled bills for sale for $3 a piece. They don’t have any measurable amount of gold in them. I bought 5 of them, and didn’t recover any gold at all from them when I refined them. There are gold bills called ‘goldbacks’ that are specific amounts of gold in each bill. They cost way more than the gold you get, but at least you know you’re getting the amount of gold shown on the bills. I’ve refined a few of these, and got back exactly the amount of gold they said they contained.

He is easily making eye contact, keeps a pleasant gentle tone and is able to respond quickly and keep up conversation. His issues appear to be more cognitive. He’s socially adept, even the way he shook Peter’s hand was very charming, but his brain was just full of mush. Very fascinating and scary.

My grandma remembers riding in an old model A with her mother and sister at night that had no headlights in Yakima Wa in the 1930s. The same mother who I have a picture of in a wagon and horse heading West. So many stories and such rich history in my family

Man, I love that old Model A! The controls in those old Ford cars are crazy though, you can't just put a key in it and start it up and go. I've seen videos of how to start and drive the Model T and Model A and I dont know if I could figure it out lol. You should show us that! You got your choke knob, the mixture adjustment, the throttle lever, the power lever, buttons on the floor next to the pedals... Next to a modern car those old beauties are kind of an enigma haha.
