Thanks for the great lesson Chad! I had the pleasure of hearing you play live with Frank Zappa years ago. I think it was in the 80's because Sting sat in with the band that night and sang Murder by Numbers. It was definitely one of the greatest concerts of my life! 🥁❤

I also saw that ‘Broadway the Hardway’ tour in April 1988. It blew me away and Chad was an absolute beast. He had a power and finesse to his playing which was more noticeable than in his earlier tours. I do remember the sound of the band was damn loud and it too ranks as one of my favourite concerts. There’s also another amazing thing about Chad, he doesn’t appear to age. He’s 60 now.

I like breaking odd times down to 'normal' parts especially when charting them for myself. Thanks Chad

I just remember them as inflections like phrasings of speech. That way I can elaborate, because math in and of itself in music is boring & doesn't say as much to me

Man. I saw this kid in 1974 with his family band, "Wackerman & company", at Apex music in San Diego. We are the same age. Nigel Olsen was there too! Chad was endorsing Slingerland and Kashian cymbals. Monster chrome kit with 2 hi hats. He made quite an impression on this 16 year old drum student. Cheers!

It was a good lesson, I've played it all before, it's nice to hear some one else play it, I did not care for the ride cymbal at all, it was too constant for me personally, I use different sized china's for ping ride's as I want to hear my stick each time, a jazz sound in rock, an uncle played big band jazz and told me about this and I went from a 21" rock ride to a china. I've always enjoyed the way Chad plays. Thanks.

Great lesson. That ride is godawfully un-musical though. But man I’d love to be able to play that kit for an hour.
