An introduction to Flashover. This video combines many of the elements that have been discussed so far in the series and combines them in one event.

Great work Matt. Great to hear an Australian accent doing these videos. I have been educating our brigade and group of brigades for the last few years about gas cooling before entry and also not opening windows and doors until the B.A. teams are set up and give the go ahead via the incident controller. This video was just what I needed. Glenn Webster CFA Lieutenant.

I’m absolutely loving these videos. I know nothing about fire. I’m hoping to write a little story where fire will be one element and I’ve got so much to think about. Thanks for this series, and protecting the community.

verrrrrrrry interesting, especially for someone who is deathly afraid of dying in a fire.....I can NOT go anywhere near a building or house that is burned out, I get nightmares and panic attacks.......but I am trying to get over it by learning how fire works.......I have the Station Fire all circulating footage on my saved list, I hope I can get past this fear.

Well hopefully learning about it takes away some of the unknown and eases your fear of it a bit. Nice work being proactive and seeking out information 🙂👍🏼

I think of it as the heat from a fire bakes the smoke/syngas out of the materials in the room. Finally the heat in the room reaches ignition of the syngas in the smoke and everything ignites if there is air to feed it.

Hi Matt, I have a question, what's the difference between a flame over and a flash over?
@MattDavis5
@MattDavis5 Жыл бұрын
Hi Vera. Flame over (aka roll over) is when a flammable mixture of smoke ignites above the neutral plane and "rolls" across the room. It's also been called the dancing angels. Flame over is actually a sign that flashover is getting closer. Flashover refers to the transition from a fire within the room to the entire room catching on fire. Hope this helps 🙂

Hi Martin. I'm glad you like the videos so far. I do want to make a backdraft video but I'm holding off until I have the time (and resources) to do it justice. So I'll be making one.. just not sure when 🙂 hope the study is going well 👍🏼

Where are all the videos on Flashover Prevention Training or Vertical Ventilation, How It Works Training or How to Stop Stuff from Burning Training?
@MattDavis5
@MattDavis5 Жыл бұрын
G'day mate. Thanks for asking but I don't make tactics related videos. Tactics is something that is highly variable across the planet and any one tactic may contradict another one (there is more than one way to fight a fire). Therefore I think that kind of information should come from your own organisation. Fire dynamics.(these videos) is a bit different because fire is quite consistent across the planet as fire dosen't change only the conditions do. Hope that answers your question. 🔥
@JB91710
@JB91710 Жыл бұрын
@@MattDavis5 My point was, there aren't any. People and organizations just make videos on the problems but not the solutions. The downside or aftermath and not how to avoid the problems. Like Vertical Venting. Plenty of videos of hole cutting but none showing conditions improving inside. Flashover but not how to eliminate combustion and cool the gasses. Lots of glamour but not the work

With this film I understand better about the flash over as to how it builds up to that point, but before it builds up to that critical temperature for the flash over, my question remains: if one firefighter or 2 uses a hose to try to cold down the smoke... whys doesn't one more firefighter use an othe water hose to put down the actual fire? at the same time? Has this been tried? HM
