Yes, I don't think I've ever observed another cat looking into her partners face for so long. Cats don't do this unless they are a few inches from your face. Since subscribing to this channel I find offensive to refer to the human as "owner" and the cat as "pet."

Yes, Billi remembered all day that she wanted the FanToy. They say dogs don't remember for long but I have a chihuahua who knows when she has done something to deserve a 'cookie' and even if I am busy or in the other room she waits and keeps reminding me [ in the cutest ways possible] that she hasn't had her cookie yet.

I was just thinking of perhaps Billi learned to retrieve her fan toy herself from the bedroom, she might be able to do it without waking up Dad. Cats can be quieter than humans and are lower to the ground. Basically teach her to fetch. It's not unheard of in cats -- Maine Coons will often do it -- but cats, training, hard to tell.

If you look way back in the uploads, she did turn it on herself one time! Back in the old apartment, probably not too long after they got it. She must've watched Mom and thought, hey I know all about pushing buttons, I could do that, lol. But oddly enough, I never heard of her ever doing it again. Kendra, has she? And if so, does she turn it off too? And if not, does she burn through batteries? lol

I suspect Billy likes the interaction with mom, pushing the button on and off on the toy would not provide the interaction. I am sure billi knows it’s there. Several of my cats know my Bose has an on/off button on the top and they use it when they want to turn it on or off (only the one button on it). The music is not a toy, however, with interaction.

Our cat seems to enjoy listening to my son play electric guitar, which always surprises me, considering how sensitive cats' hearing is, especially after seeing Billi's aversion to noises. I've theorized that he enjoys feeling the sound vibrations from the amp through the floor and air, but it's hard to believe it would be worth suffering ear discomfort for that. Maybe it helps that my son is my cat's favorite person, and he generally tolerates more from him than us. Actually though, even wild animals and farm animals have shown an attraction to music. There are lots of videos of people playing various instruments for all kinds of animals at wildlife sanctuaries, aquariums, farms, etc, and the animals voluntarily gather around to listen and sometimes even sway or bop to the music. It adds enrichment to their lives. There's even a guy who plays fiddle outdoors and a wild fox comes around and sits down nearby to hear him play, and wild dolphins and whales will swim up to a boat to hear live instruments, so it's not just the bored confined animals who appreciate music!

@@TieDyeVikki I have a San Diego classical station on all the time it also has classical corals (my favorite) and occasionally opera which I always turn to another station if they have an opera program playing. My sense is some of the high-pitched voices in the opera might be bothersome to cats, it sure is to me. Cats have a higher range into the higher pitched region so many machines are irritating to them. As I recall the rock music Billi objected to had that screechy high pitched sound. With my cats sometimes the music is turned on in the middle of the night and sometimes it’s turned off during the day but I do know they understand that button. One time I had been playing in the hallway with one of my other cats I came back in where the music had been turned off and I was making comments about it, like what happened to my music ??? 😤 and one of my cat sitting next to the radio nonchalantly went over and turned it on for me. It certainly surprised me that this cat understood exactly what I was complaining about and responded by turning it on. So now I do not believe the music being on and off in merely an accident. I know they don’t like the vacuum cleaner and they don’t like the blender but I do think they enjoy the music and they know I do. And yes I’ve certainly seen the videos of musicians playing for wild animals cows, & such, with rapt attention. But humans like different music, why shouldn’t it be the same thing with animals?

My family also discovered the cat ecstasy in the form of plastic rings from milk jugs! If we opened a plastic milk jug, there'd be an eager cat waiting for the ring. It really makes no sense to go out of your way and spend a lot of money on what you hope the cat will like, when you've seen they prefer what many consider "garbage" that is otherwise discarded.

I think Billi likes to play it with Mom though, when she tries to turn on Zoom Zoom for Billi instead, Billi gets MAD.

Basic association can even built up for a cat. Each button has a result. She knows what the noise causes, so she uses it to prompt responses from the human. If the researchers trying train Koki had uses sign just to do basic ideas, rather then wanting sentence structure, they might have been able to prove that Koko could build up a vocabulary. One for each food she's allowed, one for each toy, one for each care taker, one for each activity like 'bath' or 'eating' would give her a way to demand things just like a cat can when given a set of buttons it knows can get results.

There's so much variation in how humans sleep that you could probably enter the room and roll me off the bed without fully waking me

Well, she cannot really play with it on her own anymore, since the current fan isn't fan-toy suitable. :(
