I still remember my first trip to the States with some of my companions for a convention. After a long flight from the Philippines to LA, I had to take a connecting flight to Texas and it was a night trip. Unfortunately I was not seated with the people I came with (it was the agency who chose our seats 😰) and I found myself in between two complete strangers. A very nice lady was seated on the window seat while a very talkative guy sat on the aisle seat. When they both found out that it was my first trip ever to the States, they were very nice sharing advice and stories. Unfortunately the guy got carried away and he kept talking and talking -- he was sharing details about his life, his work, his "lovelife", conspiracy theories and other stuff that sounds a bit unbelievable. It quite concerned the lady next to me and she kept refuting the guy and told me not to believe him. (and no we did not know each other at all!) The talkative guy would not stop... all of the passengers had their lights off and the plane was completely quiet except in our seats. I'm pretty sure that everyone could hear him. I was feeling quite embarrassed already because his voice was pretty loud and the flight attendant passed by our area and gave us pointed looks already. Then he ordered alcoholic drinks and wanted to order some for me and the other lady (which we both declined bec it was late and well i just wanted to rest and sleep). The flight attendant couldn't resist in point blank asked him if he was tired and pointed out that everyone in the flight was already quiet and resting. He kept saying oh we're good.. (uhm no its only you!) and that he wasn't finished yet. So yeah. I had NO SLEEP and NO REST at that flight... I don't mind talking with a fellow passenger but you can only take so much you know! He couldn't take a hint 😭 kinda creeped me out a bit too with all the weird stories and innuendos. (by the way this happened in 2010).

I had the same experience but with my company's driver, when i made a mistake for taking the shotgun instead of the backseat. He just went on and on talking then get to the point where he talked about his young nightly adventures. I acted obviously uncomfortable but he just didn't get it. That was borderline sexual harassment i think.

Not on a flight but when I accompanied my mom for her regular check-up in hospital, an old lady sat beside me. She asked me first who's sick and we had a normal conversation. But then, later on she started to talk about her daughter-in-law and his son's marriage life which I didn't need to know. I pretended that I need to use the restroom so I walked away for a while and never returned to the same seat anymore

Being an introvert, I normally don’t want to talk to anyone on a flight; but on this one flight I sat next to an older couple and somehow ended up playing puzzle games on my tablet with them throughout the whole flight - that was fun, and they were awesome, didn’t go as far as connecting with them; but remember them from time to time and hope they’re doing well. On a different flight, I sat next to this gentleman, maybe a bit older than me, that didn’t seem to bring any books, or anything to do; unfortunately it was a return flight, I was exhausted, and just wanted to read and listen to music. He kept on trying to start a conversation and looking at me the whole flight as if trying to figure out why I wasn’t chatty at all. Truth is that I still feel bad for ignoring him; so sort of promised myself to be nicer and at least listen for a few minutes (for all I know he could have been going through something and maybe just needed someone to listen).

I was having a horrible panic attack taking off from Atlanta and I was in the last row. The flight attendant sitting in the back saw me, leaned over and said, "Ooh no sweetie! Come on back here baby... you need a Xanax?!" Lol it turned into a pretty good flight! First and last time I was ever offered medication by a flight attendant! I think it was Southwest Airlines.
@JasonB8082 жыл бұрын
Xanax is a prescription only medication. She shared her own personal medication. I know she was trying to help and it did help you on your flight. Like any prescription medication, a doctor or psychiatrist would need to determine the correct dose for you and if it would interfere with any other medication you have been taking. Common side effects are fainting, shortness of breath, Xanax is also been abused for recreational use causing dependency and withdrawal symptoms. Before the next time you fly, ask your doctor about your anxiety flying and he or she will prescribe a medication that are better suited for single time use.
