Cancelation wasn't difficult. When I realized they wanted $236 from me to cancel, I figured I'd see what would happen if I just changed my plan from the All Apps plan to the $10 Photography Plan. They actually refunded me $35 for the remainder of the month I already paid for, took my $22 for the Photography Plan and sent an email thanking me for my purchase. No cancelation fee. Then I just canceled that plan. So yes, it's not ideal and in fact it cost me $22 to cancel (much better than $236) but technically, it was rather simple. They also at least now are offering a monthly plan as well as the yearly paid monthly plan. I'm glad I canceled because, though I'm not an artist or photographer, just a causal dabbler, I feel for the artists and photographers being shafted by Adobe. I now have Affinity's Universal License and am happy with the move. Good luck, I hope Adobe, it's Firefly and all the other AI, thieving software companies get set straight for all of you with skin in the game.

Reaper ... sorry but you'll pry my copy of Reaper from my cold dead hands. It's what I go for when I do Foley work and I just love how it works out of the box so well for that type of workflow.

Nuke vs Fusion Both are node based and while not everything is 1 to 1 if you know how to use fusion you won;t be totally lost in Nuke. There's a professional nuke artist that has done 2 videos comparing them and he wasn;t dismissive of Fusion. But since both are node based as I said if you need to work on a Nuke project it;s way easier to move from Fusiuon than After Effects at least you have the node mentality down.

It is indeed tricky as heck to make that mindset transition from AE to nodal compositing... Especially if you come from a background with a lot of Photoshop use... But if my dumb arse can do it and still have a career, I say damn near no one is doomed. ;)
