Inficon needs to seriously consider putting this video on their website. Every manufacturer (hint; Fieldpiece) should film a video like this going IN DEPTH into the operation of their instrument. Showing how to use every single feature on the instrument. Not just these generic "canned" videos saying... hey look at our fancy new leak detector . And of course, just about everything he said in this video will directly translate right over to the fieldpiece dr82. 😎👍

Somebody has already mentioned this in the comments. But absolutely keep desiccant packets inside of your case. I do that with all my electronic instruments. Anytime I buy something that has a desiccant package I just keep them in a Ziploc bag. And then I use those to throw inside of all my cases wherever I store an electronic instrument. Just so I know I have something in there absorbing moisture . And I keep several of them in my refrigerant leak detector boxes. 😎👍

Shout out to the Inficon Rep. Is so refreshing to see that level of knowledge and professionalism. They guys we have down here in Texas fool you by walking upright. If you go into supply houses in the metropolitan areas, you had better not be going in there looking for support. True story at Johnstone Supply. The nitrogen gun was bypassing around the trigger and leaking. The most knowledgeable guy in the place that they called to look at it said, "Use Teflon tape." Inficon Guy, if you read this, thank you for the intel. I may actually give one a second chance.

Curtis, I found this video very interesting. I remember seeing your frustration when you were working with this tool. I have a suggestion when storing the tool. You said that water may have destroyed the unit. Since it is stored in a plastic case any water in the filter or tubing will stay with it when you put it in the case. I suggest that you put a big bag of silica gel in the case to absorb any water that is left inside the unit when you return it to the case.

You always tend to learn something when working with a factory rep in person. They know the product inside and out and the company reputation hinges a lot on how they handle the situation. Hopefully your new one holds out good. I’ve heard good things on that detector

Great video ! Really informative. seems like they are using the same spec as bacharach. Move leak detector at a rate of about 1" per second & stay away from the water ! If the leaks beside the water & u want to go there. vacuum or blow out the drain pan. dry area with a towel before running leak detector over water. Water is the enemy for H-10 G Leak detector too. That's the only thing that will stop a H-10 too. They need to put cleanable water traps on these thing's. Leak detectors ain't cheap !

That was a very knowledgeable rep. It would seem to me that even though the filter is hydrophobic it seems that moisture can get through and is a device killer. They should have a secondary moisture sensor to auto shutoff the air pump and an alarm.

I’ve been so on the fence with this one. I’ve looked at the fieldpiece and I know techs who have had luck with them while others mention they have been faulty. The Stratus has been the only one I’ve seen with great reviews, a few here and there. It’s just that $1000 price tag.🥲
