This how to video shows the basic steps for removing the image intensifier in both the AN/PVS-7C and AN/PVS-7A.

*This video does not depict the tube removal process for the AN/PVS-7B or D.
*The MX-10130D/UV image intensifier, depicted in this video, was first introduced in 1996.
The high performance version of the MX-10130D/UV featuring an auto gating power supply and a thinned ion barrier (as compared with prior art) was introduced in 2002.
Building or maintaining a night vision system while keeping the system contaminant free should not be considered difficult nor should it prevent one from a DIY night vision build of from self maintenance of the NV system. Maintaining a contaminant free system is as intuitive and fundamental as good personal hygiene.

To quote Litton: "The AN/PVS-7C is the latest generation of the Gen II or Gen III Single Tube Night Vision Goggle originally designed by Litton and fielded with the US Army as the AN/PVS- 7A. That unit has been modified to meet special submersibility requirements for the US Navy to allow stowage and transport in underwater conditions down to 20 meters. This new capability carries the designation AN/ PVS-7C."
