Flying a Cirrus SR22 to a regional airport in Australia for the first time since restrictions eased. Watch the flights, hear ATC calls, and ride along as I fly to Colac and explore the area. If you're finding it hard to get out of your house and explore again, you're not alone.
I'm flying a Cirrus Aircraft from Moorabbin Airport in Australia. In this General Aviation VFR flight vlog you can see views from the cockpit, listen to Air Traffic Control, see me taking off and landing the plane, and watch as I vlog my way around the regional airport and local environment.

I'm so happy I'm pursuing flying, seeing people like you sharing your story and experience makes me so happy I am giving this career ago. I've been working through the Lockdown in NZ as a supermarket checkout person, I've been working to pay for my PPL so that I can go to a flying school next year. Hopefully in the near future I'll have the delight to be in the same airspace as you :))

I know the feeling. I've stayed close to home myself, but with things starting to calm down did my first flight in a while to somebody else's airport. Last week, an hour each way. Didn't do much when I got there: used the bathroom, bought gas, chatted with a couple of people. It still felt good.

This was me yesterday! After not flying for a long time due to what shall not be named I went out a x country to a busy controlled airport. I almost noped out of it as I was getting ready for departure, then I continued and had a load of fun and got a huge confidence boost. Sadly the longer flight that was planned for tomorrow was cancelled because I just can't get through to anyone (airfield is PPR), but I will still be flying! Just going somewhere else. Btw if you ever come back to Germany, get in touch! Oh and bring hiking gear ;)

I thought I was the only one with some trepidation getting back in the air. I too recently cancelled a flight due to uncertain feelings. I decided to do the small bites like you mentioned. I did my flight review, then went up by myself for an hour to get out of my "comfort zone". Now going to drag an instructor with on cross country flight to knock the rust off that, and because my friends aren't aviation enthusiasts. It's more fun with someone. Thanks for putting your feelings to words so we can all relate.

The skinny runway at Colac made landing as a student pilot very challenging especially with crosswind. The fist time, I clearly remember doubting my ability on turning final but as we got closer it looked much more possible with the runway perception widening. The crosswind did not help either but after that landing , I did feel some sense of accomplishment. Thank you for making this video Stef!! Loved it.
@StefanDrury
@StefanDrury 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah it's a narrow one that's for sure! And the wind was probably 70º crosswind for that landing. You can see the wing camera is actually over the grass it's that thin, not much room for error so you want to be solid on the rudder pedals. Nice job landing down there as well, hope your flying is going well Aditya.

I appreciate your confession here. Just two days ago I almost cancelled an outing. I had agreed to meet up with some friends for a bourbon sampling, outdoors, in a socially distanced get together. Just before leaving I felt wild anxiety. This damn world felt so big, and nothing feels certain anymore. I went anyway. I'm glad I did. It was awkward keeping distance, not shaking hands, not sharing food, etc, but it was good to feel human again. Plus bourbon . . . Also, you're a runner! Fly somewhere to run. Ditch that bike - they are the work of the devil. With my two feet and a light pack, I'm off exploring! Lets see some running videos again!

Awesome video mate. This channel is so great for people wanting to see the passion many have for aviation. I know you love safety and so do I so can I just mention maybe next time you ride on a country road you wear high vis. I know it’s a bit uncool but Country roads are very ominous for crashes as fatigue is an issue and objects often blend into a straight road. Most people driving these roads are doing long trips and a black clothed cyclists can be very easily missed. You could see in one of your shots the road blends into the sky and you would be very difficult to see in this scenario (straight road). I’ve had a friend hit a black cow on a straight road doing a long trip and the car was a written off. I’d hate to see someone like yourself contributing so much to the world hurt. Stay safe legend, just wasn’t sure if you thought about it :-). Can’t wait for the next vid

One of your videos popped up in my feed and was recommended by KZfaq. That was 3 weeks ago, since then I’ve watched nearly every episode from the past year. Great content!

It's always amazes me to think that you have just woken up in Australia while I'm laying in bed at 12am. The world is so small and big at the same time if you think about it. Greetings from Holland!

Hey Stef, I’ve been a watcher of your channel since 2018. I’m not a pilot but so many of your adventures inspire me to keep pushing through difficult challenges and to try new things. Keep up the awesome vids mate, Matt

I love comments like this, thank you Matt. I never wanted this channel to be just a "flying" channel for pilots. Knowing the videos are enjoyed by, and useful for, people like yourself really motivates me to do more. Thanks for taking the time to say that mate.
