Damn you are harsh on yourself.... I'm a more miserable b'stard most days - sadly that has been my life!.... I'd suggest you are missing the 'romantic' connection you met in Koh Samui..... You might be a little more privileged than most people I know but to be honest your honest self deprecation is is one of your winning qualities as a KZfaqr because It makes every upload feel real to the viewer. I REALLY look forward to Isaan and how you deal with isolation, crazy food (by western standards) and genuinely humble people.... The people in my home town in the UK often give just the same cold response - it's the sign of a normal working province sadly - people aren't programmed for fun.. Loss of a phone/connections causing mental trauma - who would have thought!.... Sadly it's a sign of the times....

What's the point of making the video when you are not enjoying yourself? Maybe should have scrapped it and then attempted a redo at another time. However, the honesty is appreciated. Way too many vloggers pretending to have a smashing time 24/7 it seems while the reality is quite a bit different. Safe travels!

Nothing to apologise for man, it happens to all solo travellers from time to time. When it happened to me in China I booked the first train back and told some close friends how I was feeling and spent 2 whole days with friends just hanging out and doing stuff and then it got better. I know exactly how you were feeling. Just spend a few days with friends and friends of friends, you’ll be dying to fly solo again in no time!

I really love the vulnerable meta in this vid. There's something beautiful and unifying about the human condition of discontent, loneliness, and of needing contact. There are sun-shiny days and then there are misty-cloudy days, and both have their own beauty. You really took us along on the journey of this province. Oddly, this vid left me feeling ok to be imperfect and gave me a satisfying internal smile. Thank you, Paddy, for "being".

Hi Paddy, I've been following you since the start of the budgeteers and what has drawn me so much to your travel vlogs are the raw energy and randomness of event of things. It wasn't the perfectly edited video or the music or places you went. It was your personality and emotions that you put it since the start, where you and Thijs worked on the farm, took the leap, didn't have a concrete plan and took a dive into the abyss. Maybe its time to sit back, rewatch your first videos with the budgeteers, rekindle the mind and soul of where it all begin. It happens to the best of all us. Sometimes we need a reminder to remind ourselves on how far we've come. Will always be rooting for you and the budgeteers ❤️

In 1983, at the age of 18, I first visited Tak. It was life changing. The road north from Mae Sot was unpaved and the place was wild. I crossed the border at two different points and ended up getting an invite from the Karen National Liberation Army to go with the troops across the Dawna Range on an operation against a Burmese base on the bank of the Salween River. Guerrilla warfare, it turns out, is about the ultimate tourist experience. I returned many time since, going across the border, staying on refugee camps, researching the history of the Karen nationalist movement while in university, and having assorted misadventures. It is a beautiful region and if you spent some time you will find world-class characters along the border - at least there were back in the day - missionaries, mercenaries, aid workers, revolutionaries, psychopaths. It was weirdly awesome.

Just a thought Paddy. Your content rarely involves any interaction with Thai people. A little bit of that wouldn't go astray, sometimes entertaining actually to the viewer. I don't think touching on it occasionally would detract from the content which as you say is documenting the trip itself. Notwithstanding, love your work. The production with the appropriate background music, superb.

@@SweetLifeLanta the beauty is that I follow half a dozen Vloggers and they are all different in their approach. Another that loves interacting and entertains doing so is Ken Abroad. Nice German lad also in Northern Thailand doing the motor bike tour. I enjoy them all, subscribe to them all and give the thumbs up every Vlog. Least I can do and will stick with Paddy for certain whether he decides to interact with the Thai people or not. Just thought that interaction and sharing it as part of the Vlog may psychologically help easing that loneliness he has mentioned as well as spicing up his travels :)

@@laotouaxiong I am sure Paddy talks to people naturally without forcing himself on anybody. It could all be part of the show. Ken abroad does it every Vlog and it is part of the entertainment. He also rides his bike around the place showing off beautiful Thailand and flies a drone to jazz it up just like Paddy. It all works very well and he always seems very content. Maybe it's just different personalities, maybe not. Paddy is the best but Paddy battles with his own demons regularly. Part of that, loneliness.

If I were you, I would just return to Chiang Mai and quit the trip for a while. You shouldn't force yourself to ride your bike if you don't feel like it. Paddy, this is why I love your videos. Is not all glamour, beaches and cocktails but you leave in the moments that were a struggle for you. After calming down you realized that your view was influenced by your mood and pointed that out, no problem! All travelers have their ups and downs, that's life. All I can say is take your time and don't be too hard on yourself. This trip is for you in the first place and we, the KZfaq viewers, have the extra bonus of coming with you trough the screen. That's the beautiful thing about KZfaq and the difference with regular TV. Enjoy the trip Paddy!

Hi Paddy, what a great video. You are the type of person who so clearly wears his heart on his sleeve. That in itself is a great attribute to have in a person. You were not miserable, you were just telling it how it was for you at that particular time. For me I totally understand and appreciate as always your honesty and frankness. Please keep on filming as you are so good at your editing and just as importantly the 'voiceovers' that go so well with what we the viewer are seeing at the time. Anyone worth their salt who has travelled for any prolonged period knows that it’s not all sunshine and rainbows and there are days that we’re in bad moods and things just suck (even when they shouldn’t). I actually appreciate more forthright, genuine content like that - it’s relateable. Find the constant smiles and scripted antics of some youtubers painful to be honest so, despite you having a rough day, I’m glad you just say it as it is. Most of us aren’t watching for the places after all - it’s to see YOUR experience in the places that matters. Keep going mate!

Totally forgiven Paddy. You have delivered more than we can ask for. You are being true to yourself and be authentic rather than fake it till you make it. All of us are human and subject to mood swing. Essentially, able to recognise, snap out from it and move on. We learnt from our bad experience and we benefited from these incidences. Keep going and walking mate Cheers Paddy

You fella need to stop apologising!! I’m sure I talk for the many when I say, we’d rather see the real you with all the emotions than a filtered perfect view and then you suffering behind the screen. Let it out, shout “I’M MISERABLE!!” Live that emotion and then crack on. One thing I learnt very early in this channel compared to the Budgeteers, is you are not good as a solo person, you need people, you need interactions and you bloody adore kids!! File it and move on to the next place. Hope you’ve got your phone back by now. Take care. X

It's great the way your negativity has inspired people to to think about their own negativity and loneliness, so it's all good in a way. You're spending a phenomenally long time alone, and it takes its toll, but you can see it, and so you're having a huge growth experience, and being genuine about it which truly helps others! By the way. I think the end song was particularly well chosen for the lyrics! xxx

I can relate to this! I love traveling, and I push myself often bypassing all kinds of cool stuff and get in certain kinds of moods...completely out of tune with the present. Common human experience, it seems.

When you said "we are in Tak" you are at Doi Pui (top of Doi Suthep / Chiang Mai) ..haha! Just something funny I noticed (and doesn't take away from your video of course!). I love it up there. Shame you didn't catch it on a misty day. It can get very beautiful at that time. I have some videos and photos of the area during heavy fog. Oh..and we all have good and bad ride times. Nothing wrong with it. Just human nature and better to be real than fake :)

No apologies needed. We all have bad days even when traveling in a beautiful area. Also I just got one of your Next Level Adventure t-shirts - Love It! I loved my trip to Thailand in 2018 with my parents, brother and sister in law. I visited Bangkok and Chaiyaphum where my sister in law's family lives.

The first video of you i saw was the train journey from Bangkok to the South, and everything g going wrong. It was epic because it was an adventure that nobody else will ever see. I'm sure what you are doing now is not what you planned, only so many roads and mountains but not your fault. It was genuinely you interaction with Thai people that was brilliant. Hopefully soon. I'm glad you haven't gone to Trat (koh Chang) yet. Unless you happy.

Oh Paddy, my heart went out to you watching this vid. I travel solo and totally get the amazing highs and lows of travelling alone. I think you are missing Miss. P and life can be lonely at times. I arrive early November, for one month travelling, I know I will get lonely and miss my son back in the Toon in Newcastle and he will encourage me to keep going and try and find beauty in the people and countryside until the loneliness passes, which it always does. Thank you for your vid and keep on being a miserable bastard when you need to be. This is Life x

0:48 Whoa!! I am Thai but I never realize Tak has that INCREDIBLY STUNNING AND MAGNIFICENT WATERFALL!!! Ps. Journey alone for a long time can lead to “loneliness”. You have a ton of time to yourself, to think, to feel and to contemplate. Too much self-reflection. So please don’t apologize because your emotions are real. The more you acknowledge it the more you can grow. HUG. 💕🥰😇✨

Hey Paddy , I’m planning to go to Ti Lor Su waterfall in Tak this year and I have to keep updating if the national park will be opened or not due to the amount of water in rainy season this year. Unfortunately it still closes until there’s further announcement. I saw the picture of the waterfall yesterday and there was still a lot of muddy water. The national park office said they’ll keep reporting the situation to the authority again to get permission for the park to be opened again on Nov 1. I hope the water situation will be back to normal like other years soon.

time to consider a bigger cc bike, not too big that it becomes a problem in itself. A 250 c.c. should be just nice; enough power to move quickly if needed, and negotiate hills and slopes at a reasonable rate; and space to put on a proper set of topbox and panniers.
