Many mention Taeyeon, Hyuna, Sunmi, and even Chungha but it's important to note that all these girls became soloists after leaving their very popular girl groups- they already had a solid fanbase and people knew them already. We also shouldn't ignore the fact many of these girls were or are part of the 'big 3' companies, which clearly gives them an advantage and you guys can't deny that. As for IU, she actually debuted as a soloist and has managed to stay relevant and popular even after being in this industry for more than a decade.
