This sounds like something I would like. It’s rare in the UF genre to have a completely standalone novel though. Without giving spoilers is it possible a follow up could be done? Has the author said definitely no more books in this setting?

I'd say it could be done potentially, but it stands alone really well. Doesn't really need anything else

I just finished it. It's excellent! I love stories where all magic has consequences, and this is a really really interesting look at that theme, but flipped in a way. Excellent review! You speak very eloquently and I enjoyed your take on the book.

I’ve seen so many reviews say that the characters were undeveloped and never changed throughout the story as people. Is that true? I’m a very character driven reader but this sounds so interesting cause I love all things dark and gritty.

I still really enjoyed it :) I like good characters too but I guess everyone's opinion is different

It's amusing/amazing how many people I've seen (including ME) that picked up this book on its cover alone. I was just passing by the "recommended" stacks in the library and it caught my eye, I read the jacket summary, the word REVENGE jumped at me, and I grabbed it. No regrets. :) Disappointed that it was NOT a standalone because I thought the ending was perfect. *sighs*

i just finished reading this book for a literature course and its just so good!!! i love it so much. who knew gothic fiction could work so well in an urban setting
