One thing I realised from modding Left 4 Dead 2 is that weapon sounds heavily affect how good a weapon feels to use. The dual pistols feel bad to use normally since they are weak and have weak sounding shots, but they feel great to use when the sounds are replaced.

Speaking of mod things, SMG got silencer upgrade later in the game, electrician NPCs can "heal" player like scientists, but they restore armor instead of HP, and in Xen you can kill these Xen Trees which smack you and was indestructible in base HL. Btw killable Xen Trees was my contribution to this mod, I did killable Xen Flora, code and basic gibs models, but unused that since I didn't do any full fledged mod yet (expect some skins at Gamebanana) and shared it with author, same with running zombies, I did that animation, (its edited HECU Grunt running anim actually, which I was able to load on zombie model, and modified hands so they look forward instead of holding invisible weapon), liked how it played, they are more fun compared to base HL where zombies are almost harmless enemy to be honest, and showed this animation to XF-Alien, he liked idea and added them as separate zombie variant, which replaces average zombies randomly based on difficulty.

I remember playing this one back when it was just Half-Life: Delta, had a super good time with it. Looks like a replay is in order

I love all this fanon and unused content (like Hostile Takeover) stuff with competing research corps and etc, Black mesa, Aperture, etc etc, a major competitive field wxisting for decades and then it's still 90-00s as usual with all this hypertech like power armor, esoteric energy generation, robotics and teleportation being relegated exclusively to the very facilities and a military detachment here and there.

It's a really fun full conversion mod. The slower gameplay compliments Half-Life's gameplay really well. Very tastefully done, even with a limited budget. I really wish we'd see more of these kinds of projects cause they're so cool!

Man what a golden age of fan made content, HL Echoes, Field Intensity, Signal Lost, Residual Point, for HL 2 the excellent Entropy Zero 2, and this is only one franchise. Other ones have been getting amazing stuff as well. I dont like the detail textures on this but looks fun.

just finished the mod I GOD DAMN LOVE IT!

I just recently completed this mod. It's really impressive how long it is for it's quality. Almost feels meandering at some points. Although I LOVE how it completely recreates almost the entire arsenal and it has the most beautiful version of Xen for a goldsrc mod i've ever seen.

There were so many fun HL1 mods I played back in the 2000s. One of my favs was the mod where you play as a Vortigaunt I think it was called Point of View, and Paranoia where you play as Russian Spetsnaz who uncovered some old Soviet biological weapon experimental bunker. Those mods were so well made. And there was also one set during the Vietnam War with some horror aspects to it.

26:01 actually at this part and the sections before where you start seeing space, in my head canon, you legit went to a telaporter that telaported you even outside of Xen and space and time.

When I want more Blue Shift, I use to play Azure Sheep, even if it contradics with what's behind the locked door that Barney is knocking, apart from that it's a beautiful and entertaining one to play. It has an hq model pack but I would recommend not replacing the apache model because it causes an error with the first scripted event.

It's always fun to watch/play HL mods like these, they give me a sense of inspiration I cannot describe.

Played with the Delta mod and I have to say that it was very impressive for a quote on quote "demo". Thabks to your vid, I'll try Delta Particles out cause I just can't get enough of the game's buttery smooth gunplay. Also, is there a chance that you will cover HTDF: Classic? Unironically looks like "Mod of the year" material to me.

this mod looks so GRAY. sometimes i felt like it could have used more varied lighting to "paint" the rooms in different colors since everything is a gray canvas.

After a bit of thinking I think the SMG is a Heckler and Koch UMP. Would need to play through and see a world model but I have yet to have time to do that. So, this is my best guess based purely on the viewmodel shown in the video.

What immediately stood out to me in this mod was the sound design- the team went above and beyond. I was very pleasantly surprised when I first picked up a health kit or battery and the chargers were extremely satisfying to use, especially after a huge encounter. The punchiness of the weapons makes them feel extremely powerful, which really helps the weaker weapons in the arsenal feel a lot better. The damage output on some of the weapons is also pretty insane, even on hard mode; The M4 consistently kills HGrunts in about 4-6 shots and the Barret is really good for taking out Alien Grunts quickly.

I'll watch the video after I beat Delta particles, since I can judge by the length that you REALLY Liked it. See you in 6 months :P

I just finished playing this mod myself the other day and I put off playing this mod until after this video. I disagree with the Light Gun doing the most damage of any weapon in the game, I'd give that to the monkey wrench. Reason being is I one shot the tank with it you see at 19:30 by holding down right click for 10 seconds almost killing me in the process. I found the Xen part to be only difficult due to a lack of health rather than ammo but I did wrench the majority of enemies due to it's instant kill capabilities. Also the "Ghost Zombies" seen at 15:30 are actually headcrabbed female assassins as seen by the corpse you step over right after killing the zombie. Fun mod and was definitely good enough to keep me absorbed from beginning to end.
