That last passive-aggressive “ima get your attending involved” was beautiful. Now stop calling me with a consult of “My patient is crying…”

Patient is crying? Better call a psych consult

That was a rubbish consult. In my day I would have called my attending to complain and give him the heads up. And I would have told his attending where to go (politely) if he called.

As an ID doc I can attest this is pretty close to the mark, including the “fever” of 99F. I’ve dx acute MI, Wegeners, etc on pts which admitting dx was “sepsis not responding to abx”😅😅😅😅😅

I did 2 ID video consults on Tuesday and the doc was so thorough and explained things just great. Its cool to watch their gears turn as they talk thru the case and patient hx.

I came in to the ER and ended up being septic from a small cyst on my leg. ED was 1 way. They were haphazard and scattered but they saved my life and got me started on pressors as my BP fell through the floor. Icu was like the Disney of units. 6 nurses all came to help my nurse receive me. They were a flurry of warm wipes, putting my hair back, changing my iv's and my clothes and bed. It was like 5 minutes of blur and then they all left. The hospitalists came and put me on seemingly every antibiotic they had access to and tried to keep my BP under control. ID came in like super heros and took me off all the other antibiotics and put me on a specific antibiotic for the specific bacteria. It was like a sniper 😅 I really appreciated how each stage was TOTALLY different, but they were equipped to help me at the stage they were at.

That ending was hilarious! It’s the medical equivalent of saying “mom said you have to do it.”

General surgery here. Normally love you. This one would be more of a punch to the face. As for the happy ending, we all can dream though. Be well.

Lol in my hospital placement for OT, almost half of the consult requests were this vague.

Hilarious. If only. Would have made my medical intern year a lot easier. Same with H+P inpatient admissions!

There was an ID attending where I trained that wrote all of his (very detailed) notes in Comic Sans.

Hi there - I am wondering if you have ever heard of / deal with - Bowel Arthritis and Dermatosis Syndrome (BADAS)….the best acronym EVER. If so, could you suggest where to go for more info? After over 33+ years I might have something to bring to my Doctors. It is called bowel bypass syndrome for people who’ve had gastric bypass. Research I found said there are cases of patients with IBD - I h ave CD - can have this despite having no bypass surgery. Thank you- Sonia
