First I’ve seen Ai be that affectionate towards Annie.

I think Ai was too young to be a mother when Annie was born, but a few years after that she I guess she finally started understanding how to be one. So they started getting along like you see here. It's crazy to imagine Annie as she is now having a kid, because that's almost what it was with Ai when she was 10. Annie is 9. I feel like she has another few years before Annie is ready to be a mother. So I don't blame Ai for what happened. just happy that the zoo staff made it work, and that it worked much better than expected, with even Nene coming around a bit after a while.... a little bit.

Shabani is a good dad.

Dad Shabani was very protective and reassuring to little Annie. It was so sweet how daddy was grooming his little girl and giving her affection and love. Mommy, Al does love her little girl, Annie. Maybe at times they play rougher then humans and maybe Al was not expecting little Annie to hang on to the rails that hard so she could get her on the grass to play. Think it was not meant to hurt Annie, just misunderstanding on moms intentions. Annie bounces back quickly. She is strong in mind and spirit. She is loved by the troop and gets much cuddle and affection from others, especially big brother Kiyomasa. :-)
