Using the GB Camera as a webcam is very impressive! As much as I like the Steam Deck, I don't play anything on it that the Pocket can run. The screen and form factor really makes the older games feel more enjoyable, and I personally really feel a difference between FPGA and software emulation. When I try to play an older title on modern hardware like the Deck, I just keep asking myself, "Why am I doing this when I could be playing something off my Steam library?" The Pocket removes that distraction. That being said, I think that a Deck and some kind of smaller handheld (Pocket, Miyoo, Anbernic, etc) covers 99% of use cases. I admit that I'm biased because I use Steam a lot, and I admire the Pocket from an engineering standpoint. They really put a lot of work into designing it. It's not just another "me too" handheld.

Yeah the Game Boy Camera as a webcam is something I’m going to explore more. I totally get the feeling of I should be playing modern games on the Deck. It’s weird how some systems have a feel about them that lends themselves to certain games or eras

A lot of reviews assume that the pocket will be played at home on the couch and we get these weird comparisons with the Steam deck and the such. For me this device is the only option for flying and generally being in a “serious” setting. Let’s just say it goes well with a suit and there are high quality and serious cases available as well.

The Steam Deck is great on flights. I often take my Pocket out just for the quick style of retro games that it’s suited for

I would like to have one. But all the trouble of getting it is just not worth it for me. It's still a fancy gimmick. I decided to pick the AYN odin 2. I prefer a far more powerful and versatile device.

I think these will become easier to get over time, which is a shame as a lot of people will then miss out during the first few years when it has most hype. But truth is as I have a Steam Deck even though that can’t play carts it can play literally every game I could want to that the Pocket can

@@GeekBattleGamingThe Steamdeck is the best emulation device. It's also far more capable than any Arm based emulation handheld which is severely limited by software development. The best bang for buck.

@@adrian_veidt the best thing about the pocket is the form factor and use of carts. Otherwise the Steam Deck is best

Ive been wanting one for ages, but they were never in stock... Anyways looking at the price of this thing and then comparing it to a Miyoo Mini Plus, I might just get the Miyoo instead. But I get it they are not the same.

I think the Miyoo is probably almost as good other than that it can’t play actual cartridges. If you have a big collections of carts this may be best. But expensive

I love the concept of this device, it's so elegant so beautiful. but I haven't actually played any retro game ever. Hell I hardly play any modern games on my 3090 so I bet I wouldn't make use of one of these either.

You’ve never played any retro games ever??? Or do you mean you played things back in the day when what we’d call retro games these days technically wasn’t retro because at the time they were current??

@@GeekBattleGaming yes I played them back when they didn't count as retro. Other than that I probably played like 2 DS games on emulation but that's about it.

@@chengong388 it’s so tricky to find time to play all the new games, but nostalgia is such a big thing and there are so many games I played years ago that I have fun going back to. Probably completed some games 20-30 times
