How a plane crash in 2016 killed an entire Brazilian football team…
Lamia 2933 is one of the most talked about plane crashes in recent years but is also one of the most tragic. The investigation would find that gross negligence as well as pilot error were key factors in such a tragic accident.

Thank you for covering a very sad and dramatic moment of chapecoense acident. One of the saddest days in brazilian aviation. The pilot, had done this CRAZY AND RECKLESS routine a number of times before, always landing in fumes of fuel. After one ofthese crazy flights, A hangar employee said that he tried to convice the man to not repeat it saying that it would eventually kill him to keep doing that. Another fact worth mentioning the lady who accepted their flight plan, denied the flight plan 3 times, asking for the endurance time and total distance to be changed, then after 3 times she was somewhat forced to accept it anyway. This was one of the most bizarre lack of airmanship i have seen in aviation in my life. Its obvious that eventually he would run out of luck, as fate would have it, it happened, and he carried many inocent lives with him. Note, this same pilot was going to carry the argentina national soccer team, including famous soccer player messi.

The original voice recordings are heart breaking bcs you can clearly hear the dispair in their voices and how much the tower controller tried to save the flight. But how could ATC provide vectors if they didn't have the plane's altitude? Devastating.

The Captain being a co-owner of the airline is a bit like Harold Steptoe taking his horse 'n' cart out every morning, being on the board of directors loses some of its lustre. He may well have considered it to be quite above board to cut corners in passenger safety as he himself was likely to die if he cut one too many. Amazing how reckless some people can be, life is dangerous enough, without adding needless risks.

I would hazard a guess the aircraft ahead of them that had declared a fuel emergency landed with more fuel than they had when idiotically accepting a holding pattern diversion. They ought to have declared a fuel emergency themselves at that point and likely would have landed safely. This not the first time ‘Priority' has stupidly been used in preference to the more appropriate and assistance providing ‘Emergency'. Astonishingly he was more interested in advising his loss of electrical power than advising all four engines had flamed out due to dry tanks. I suspect their primary reason for not declaring an emergency earlier when their situation was salvageable was entirely due to the subsequent inquiry that would follow. Once it becomes official due to mandatory ATC reporting and involvement of the civil aviation regulatory body, they knew they’d be caught out deliberately violating regulations that demand a minimum of 30mins fuel reserve on landing. Because they’d elected to 'fly on fumes' arrogantly and irresponsibly deciding to continue rather than make a fuel stop. Their appalling corner-cutting decision making disregarded all safety dynamics and was purely financially motivated, including their deceitful fraudulent filed flight plans and poor scheduling. Irrespective of the destination airport's closing time, which is simply poor schedule planning on the charter operator’s part, they ought to have planned for a refuelling tech stop and advised an earlier departure time to cover both the potential tech stop and arrival well within the destination airport’s operational restrictions when negotiating the timetable for the charter. Too many accidents have occurred over the years with charter operators due to competitive bidding, dodgy operational practices and involvement of company owners/co-owners holding a pilot’s license but not endorsed on type being operated, yet irrespectively demanding on being a part of the operating crew, usually for reasons of vanity or in pursuit of benefits. Consequently the CRM dynamics are completely annihilated with F/O (un-endorsed owner) holding the advantage over an enormously steep flight deck management/decision making gradient. Unacceptably although understandably with some less assertive personality types or with dependence on employment, career progression or accumulation of flight hours, they are unwilling to affirm their authority and position as PIC despite carrying the responsibility, as evidenced by even agreeing to accept an unqualified F/O devoid of appropriate endorsements and experience on type. I often wonder - do they even consider a pilot incapacitation scenario or similar requiring the unqualified F/O taking sole control?!

Whoever encountered the difficulties of a landing in South American countries will understand the enormous stress of the crew. Land and refuel - pay the fuel with credit card. How to get to the counter to pay the fees? Call the tower to let somebody open a door. A portion can be payed cash with dollars. Another portion must be payed cash in pesos. Immigrate to convert some dollars to pesos at a bank. A long queue in front of the banks counter. Convert some dollars to pesos. Immigration again to get to the office. Pay everything now. Delay the flight plan accordingly. In the meantime three hours elapsed. Time is getting critical because the airport of final destination might close. Venezuela does not permit overflight. Make a trick in the flight plan to circumnavigate Venezuela. The wether on the route is stormy. Landing in Aruba ten minutes before closing. Idiot procedures of some countries contribute to such incidents !

Are you kidding me-??? "The pilots fell they have JUST ABOUT enough fuel to make it"-???!!! Its not like your driving a car and run out of fuel on the side of the damn road-!!! This whole thing was bound to happen if not this day another day for sure considering the planes fuel capacity. "Rules, we dont need no rules-!! "Hold over Gimli" ??? Oh Brother-!!!

You actually owned a part of this company and you don't know that you cannot make this distance without a refuel? And there is no advance planning to do this and this from a "professional" airline?? Unbelievable? Unbelievable? What a waste, just Unbelievable again!!

Is this flight crew responsible for paying the cost of fuel? Why would ANYONE risk it for a biscuit? Piss-poor flight management - full stop.

Probably just very cheap airline and got greedy trying to save money. One of the pilots was the owner of the airline so go figure 🤷🏽‍♂️

@@sludge4125 but most GA planes fly slower and can land almost everywhere. So a total engine failure wouldnt be as bad as a total engine failure in an airliner.
