While Caitlin Clark has garnered significant attention for her impressive performances, Paine offers a compelling argument as to why she may not be the leading contender for the ROY title.

No expert in the world is going to watch Caitlin's game vs those other rookies' games and say she is not ROTY. She is playing better than many veterans. Stevie Wonder can see that.

dude, Ive watched both play, Reese isnt even close. on a day that all but two teams played, Clark appeared in almost every category in the top 5. she led her team to erase a 20 point deficit in 1 quarter. team didnt win but damn her for not getting 33 points. you over analyze things.

She is blitzed, doubled, shaded towards more then any player on the planet. And still performs at a high level. As soon as I heard ESPN, I knew she would get jobbed.

Unlike most people, I’ve watched the WNBA for years. Painfully. Then came Caitlin Clark… The most electrifying, fun female player I’ve ever witnessed. She is the most gifted playmaker I’ve seen since Pistol Pete - who I’m unfortunately old enough to have seen play. The fact that so many argue against her being the ROY, is a prime example of why she is the ROY. Certain people consistently try to argue for Reese - and yet Reese has not electrified or elevated her team or the league like Clark has. You would not even be having this conversation or know Angel Reese’s name were it not for Caitlin Clark. You know it. I know it. Even Reese knows it.

does this analytics account for the difference in the way they are being guarded?does it account for unguarded shots that she generates for her teammates that are being bricked?

Since it's so rare to have a player like this in the WNBA do you think it will take the coaching staff longer than usual to optimize for it? It feels like Clark has a great deal of gravity but the team hasn't learned to benefit from it.

Reese's double doubles are rebounds, some off her own missed shots. Clark's are mostly assists. The assists double doubles are much less common and about a quarter of this season's were scored by Clark. First ever rookie triple double. Now an unprecedented set of game stats. Somebody's methodology needs work.

3:1 ratio. That is the standard for any ELITE point guard. If you don't have an assist to turnover ratio of 3:1, you are not elite by historical, current, and future basketball standards. Go to the basketball hall of fame in Springfield Ma and see for yourself. 2:1 ratio means you're a "good" point guard. Any good point guard can easily achieve a 2:1 assist to turnover ratio. If you fall below 1.5:1 assist to turnover ratio, you are slipping into the below average category for point guards. What is Caitlin Clarks assist to turnover ratio? Sit down, because you are in for a big surprise. 1.4:1 It is questionable if CC should be handling the ball. CC's assist to turnover ration of 1.4:1 is costing the Fever victories. CC is on a team with 2 other WNBA All Stars...that's right. The Fever have 3 WNBA all stars and they're STILL playing BELOW .400 ball!!!!! Can't blame her teammates. The problem with CC fans is they're CC fans. They're not basketball fans, and they couldn't calculate an Assist to turnover ratio using AI assistance. But somehow, "their eyes" sees a great player. I have a term for CC fans....."nose pickers." Nose pickers that want to live their lives through CC. And any knock against CC is knock against their own miserable life. The Fever are losers right now. And if the SKY finishes above the FEVER in the standings, Angel Reese deservedly earned the ROTY.

Clark is the on floor general of her team. No Clark, no points, no wins. I guess being the engine of the team doesn't have meaning. In the last game Clark was responsible for two turnovers. The team was responsible for 21...suddenly they can't dribble, can't catch? Is that Clark's fault? They did fine in the previous game. All of a sudden they regress? The coach broke up a winning combination, is that Clark's fault? The coach took Clark off the court when the team was 3 points down to give the ball to a player who had missed ALL her shots on this day? Is that Clark's fault too? Clark is face guarded more closely than any other player..what are the stats for that??? Is it fair to choose a stat that no guard has ever excelled at, the PER, which is a post player performance score...I think you need to use scores, assists, total rebounds, steals, to evaluate fairly, if that is even possible. Percentage of points scored for your team would also indicate your worth in a big way.

Forced Turnover steal blocks Reese 33 9 Clark 35 20 pretty sad when a guard gets more blocks then a center

Clark is taller than nearly every guard in the WNBA. Reese is not the tallest Center in the WNBA. Do better research. You get an "F" for thinking you're compelling, and an "INC" for phony sadness.

@freddy3070 The fact that you even asked for a stat for her misses shows you no nothing about the game. Cause the stat for that is called a field goal percent. And the guy in the comment said it's 42%. You know nothing about the game but want to talk about it. It's OK that CC makes turnovers she's a rookie. It happens but don't downplay what Reese is doing. They are both doing great as rookies. But I'm sure you can't admit that.

I am a fan of Clark because I like basketball but she isn't my favorite player. I've never been a fan of "volume" shooters. My favorite college player was Paige and I think Paige will be the better pro. Paige is just an extremely efficient player. There is a truth that if you play on a less talented team that you end up being less efficient. Every shot is harder but the person Caitlin is compared to is guarded the way Caitlin is and still finds ways to be efficient. I'm sure Clark will figure it out and maybe even some better coaching will help her efficiency. Plum figured it out too so I'm sure Caitlin will figure it out. Her style of play just isn't my favorite to watch. Same way I'm not a fan of Trae Young. He can do amazing things but it is inefficient.

Lots of people think Angel Reese is ROTY with their own eyes. That's not a big deal or a surprise. To me, and many others, she's the leading candidate. Regarding Stats; rankings and analytics. It's pretty clear it's Reese:: Here are the official stats and Analytic Ratings (which incorporate stats for the non basketball inclined) for Reese in the WNBA for Rookies: Points - 2nd Rebounding -1st Steals- 1st Double-Doubles 1st PLAYER RATINGS PER-1st Win shares-1st Offensive Rating-1st Defensive Rating -1st Efficiency Rating 1st +/- (Plus/Minus) Rating 1st Player Impact Rating 1st And she leads most of those Player Ratings by a mile over CC. It's not even close. Regarding versatility and skill: Reese, can play on the high post, low post, and wing on both offenses and defense. She's not limited. CC, can only consistently play on top, and she needs help (picks; screens; space, etc.) to do this regularly. She's awful on defense guarding her own position, mind you switches, and certainly can't defend or score on anyone in the post. Reese Wins!
