@@50blessings52 Ahh, yeah, this song specifically popped up on spotify and I had to share what I was feeling. I don't even know what those people are talking, not that I think it's a bad thing but yeah. NYC is a pretty close and cheap round trip and I was going though a bit of depression so I spent so much time alone just getting drunk and watching anime and shit. I would spend a lot of time smoking cigarettes and listen to music that made me feel emotional, in a way though, that made me feel good. I noticed Anamanaguchi was appearing at some night club in Brooklyn and I told myself I would do whatever it takes the be there that night. I remember sitting on the train listening to their album most of the way there and some chick looked at me and kind of caught my eye. At one point, I guess the music was loud enough to hear and she asked me if that was the Endless Fantasy album. Being such a loner, I had trouble thinking what do say, but I just took my headphones off and said yes. She was gushing over how much she loved the band and how "magical" their newest album was and I agreed. I told her I was going to see them that night somewhere in new york but unfortunately she was going to see her family in new jersey. Quite a silly and asked if she wanted to go see them with me. and random moment that I don't think I'll ever forget it. When I got there, it was only my second time going and my first time alone. I live in Philly so I kind of know what a city is like at night but NYC is one of a kind. The streets never felt empty. The show show started pretty late but I was used to staying up all night so afterwards, I just walked the streets and just blended in. Packs of cigarettes were so much more expensive there so many people stopped and asked to buy a cigarette off me which actually helped me buy a few meals by the morning. Sorry for this long ass weird story, didn't expect it to come out this long. I don't always think back to those days but when I do, it all cones rushing back like some old forgotten memory. This music brings back junior high and early high school for me. Me and my friends, mostly gay, were mostly outcasts and generally didn't mess with drugs but we loved techno and dance and gay culture. But we were still too young to out and discover anything for ourselves. I grew up in a conservative Mexican american home but my mother was pretty awesome she let me bring my misfits over and hang out. My house was kind of a refuge for us all. My Mom didn't judge my gay guy friends who wore makeup and had to change into their normal clothes before getting dropped off at their own individual homes. Tell me more about what bands you saw in NYC. What kind of anime were you watching. Why were you feeling depressed, what brought u to new York? Are you still there, why did you leave?

A company would rather have none of the money, than some of the money, if they can't have all the money. While Anamanaguchi would have its niche, at the end of the day, Skrillex makes money, Lady Gaga makes money, and so everything will use the same formula until it's driven to the ground. It's the blind leading the blind in the end, where at the end of the day, the indie bands pick up the money tossed to the ground by those who are blinded by profits.

This sounds soooo JPOP and soooo...Perfume like. Not a band thing though. Loved it.

This and "Japan Air" are the only two songs that borrow a lot from "pop" (J-pop). "Endless Fantasy" has some "house" elements and the rest of the album is pretty much a mixture of genres glazed with Anamanaguchi's own style. "Pop" is a very broad and undefineable term though. Most of Anamanaguchi's music up to this album has been very niche and not marketable at all, music for the "retro" crowd. Music for people like me. This album (only their second physical album release, mind you) is the first time they're heading in a new direction. Don't get me wrong. I love it! And they made a huge splash with this album compared to their earlier, more underground efforts. But they still have a long road ahead of them if they really want to become main-stream. And I'm not so sure that I'd like their stuff once they got there. Anamanaguchi would be wise to keep doing what they do best, which is making quirky and odd music. Which is what they're doing right now. And they're doing a very good job ... hey Anamanaguchi, how 'bout another Europe Tour plox? KTHX BAI!
